The Scratch Team's flagging system is flawed, the flagging system can be manipulated into
taking otherwise harmless projects off the website. Back in 2008, my brother would, just to be funny, would take one of Kaotheroogancreator's projects and edit them with some
changes to the look of characters. He put full credit in the project, and the project notes. People posted hateful comments ad flagged the projects for, "stealing" when my brother put full credit to the person who made the artwork. The project was flagged so many times, it was taken off the website when the project had no content that was even suggestible as "bad". I request that The Scratch Team can prevent people from taking "good" projects off the website because of a few lazy kids who couldn't read the project notes or heed the the beginning of the project.
Thank you,
Hunter

Hi Hunter -
Thanks for sharing your concerns about this!
Hmm, I'm not sure about that particular situation, but I can tell you that this sort of thing won't happen now. The Scratch Team reviews every project that is flagged. It's still possible that a project could get flagged by the community so many times that it would be removed temporarily. But once we reviewed the flags and saw that the project wasn't inappropriate, we would restore it to the site, and make it impossible for flags to remove it again.
That's why there are two different censored messages: One with Gobo saying that the community censored the project, and we will review it:
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/lightnin101/661486
And one with Scratch Cat, that says that the Scratch Team removed the project.
http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/lightnin101/661487
You won't be able to find any examples of the Gobo message on the site, because we always review them and either restore the project, or confirm that it should be censored (which changes the message to the Scratch cat one).
I hope this addresses your concerns!

You could change both of the messages to the Rick Roll'd video

XD at jacool, RICK ROLL!?!? OH NOES!!! Anyways, A few of my projects got flagged and removed, 1 NEEDED to be flagged, and the other was a bring back doody one. I deleted them, But 1 was not bad, doodyhaters -_-

OK, just stop with the rickrolls. I think there's enough of that on youtube. anyways, this truly is a problem, I must agree, not only because some kids who are just playing around would upload someone else's project and then people would flag that, but also because there are some projects that are not being flagged inappropriate. I was once searching around on the website and I found a banned project called "MAN V.S. GOD" which is so insulting from the beginning it was bound to get flagged within a minute. but there are some offensive projects I found that were never banned, most likely because they were so unpopular that no one would notice them. I think the scratch team should have a regular schedule of checking over every newest project to see for themselves if it is bad. thank you for listening.

I just deleted the account with the inappropriate name you mentioned. It's a good idea for us to filter names too. In the meantime, please use the Contact Us form (click link below) or "Flag as inappropriate" if you see anything inappropriate. Thank you!
yeah- I'm working on helping filter a website
i could do it for you.

What about inappropriate icons, for example, I once saw a user with an icon that read,
"I'd love to stay and chat, but your a total *****."
I would of flagged his icon, but it turns out you can't DX
Note: Before anyone asks, I don't remember that user's username. Sorry ):

I have a way to avoid that. At the end of animation, you write, "Before you post any hateful comments, please read the project notes. That almost always works for me.
"

The thing to do in that case is just use the Contact Us link at the bottom of any page and tell the name of the user and what you saw that was inappropriate. And thanks for helping to keep Scratch friendly

there in fact is, at the very bottom of the page that is called "contact us" which allows you to contact the scratch team for USERS.

That would be too hard for young Scratch members to read.
Of course, Scratch should have a filter like Sulake's Habbo Hotel does, it ignores all dots, commas, dashes and symbols and it would just filter it if it contains a swearword (a.k.a. Bobba)

Yeah but there's this person Dreameater and s/he has loads of innapropriate projects but no one seems to notice and I've just started anew gallery and s/he even added in a project that had been taken off the web
I looked at Dreameater's stuff and there's nothing there. Usually there's an indication of a project being deleted.

i wish there was a place to view banned projects for people who are mature enough to view them

Well, I have been studying DREAMEATER since 2007 and since his last project: Burgandy, was much less violent than his others, I have assumed he went into theropy. Now, he deleted all of his projects (Most likely due to this) and changed his location to:
DEAD
SLUPPER (Excuse me if this is a bad word, I have never heard it used before)
United Kingdom.
It used to be
Perth
Kinthross
United Kingdom.
He had many projects including:
Mugging,
Lemon Soup (Knives)
The Facts! (Say no to Jam)
and Said the Crane to the Wooden Man.
He is gone now, and that must have helped the scratch community by his leaving. However, only two of his projects ever got flagged, and I feel responsible.
I am so sorry to tell you that I had no idea what flagging was back in '07 '08 times so I couldn't flag his stuff.
Yet again, I am sorry that he didn't leave sooner.

This brings up a good point. Some people have different views of what is inappropriate. Maybe this could be added to the Terms of Use
