People, hear my words. Ever since the 1s1s fever has swept scratch, all of our communities best programmers have been obsessed with it.
As a result, they sacrifice the good appearence and smooth running of their great games for the right to say they created a script that is so long it takes ten minutes to open in Scratch!
If you agree with this and wish they'd stop, post a comment on this forum thread. I think if we get enough traffic on this thread, it will rise to the top, and the annoying 1s1s-ers will see it and hopefully change their ways. Help me, fellow Scratchers!

I agree with this thread. There is a reason that you can make more sprites and more scripts, it is far more efficient.

For some reason, after reading this, I have suddenly been filled with the desire to make a 1 sprite 1 script project...

Isn't it up to the programmer how they want to make their project?

I agree with Chrischb.
I don't make games 1s-1s or 0s-1s, but I do make simulations and things with them. It's a good challenge. Also, I just don't need the other scripts or sprites. It's nice to be as efficient as possible, but not nescissary.

I agree, they're a good challenge and usually their creators are considered good programmers, but the project ends up lagging a lot.

1s 1s can be good. My physics simulation game is a 1s 1s and it still runs fine if not better as a 1s 1s. If you look at my other games that have lots of sprites and scripts (Deal and or no deal, block v3) you'll notice that they lag more than my s1 s1 projects. Yet I could turn them into 1s 1s and they would run faster.

Why do you want them to stop?
Have you seen how good some are?

What's wrong with that?
By the looks of it, nobodies gonna help you.
So you are calling RYS, Juststickman and chaps like that annoying. Well you're annoying if they are classed as such.
Plus, it's like protests. It happens but nothing changes.
Edit: You remind me of the monk on the tower in assassin's creed 2

What do you mean "sacrifice good appearance and smooth running of their great games"?
Most one sprite one scripts that are well made run perfectly smoothly.
And I already can't draw anything but a demented lizard for my life, so that's no reason to criticize my 1s1s projects.

I disagree with you. By limiting yourself you are likely going to make something that is less efficient. It can be made to test yourself but you learn bad habits from doing so. People who try to learn to program these kinds of projects will become worse.
The best way to improve your overall efficiency is to learn another language and remake your projects in that language while paying attention to how guides say something should be coded and going on programming forums.
Overall, 1s1s projects are not the menace that the first post makes it out to be. Sure they are not the best way of doing things but at least they are something constructive (unlike fake RPGs, chat projects, add your guy, ect). However, they probably should not be considered a piece of superior programming and having 1s1s doesn't make the project amazing.

Well, he does have a point, so you shouldn't dismiss him completely. Projects with 1s1s are less efficient and bad to learn from. They are usually over hyped as being amazing or something.

But it's not a maniacal disease that will destroy us all, as he seems to be implying.

Yes it is! Run for the hills!
