The weekly debate thread #1

The Weekly Debate Thread!

I would've started posting these last Sunday, but by then I realized that I was banned.

So this weeks debate:
Do Video Games ruin the minds of children?

I personally think so, to an extent. Take for example COD MW2. It takes control over certain things to not become them.

Discuss! Debate! Learn! Make a total fool of yourself!

Re: The weekly debate thread #1

There have actually been several studies saying just the opposite. Violent games do not produce violent children, it gives them a place to release steam.
Video games are not addicting, according to WHO.

I'm contented with shooting people in the head in Halo if it stops me from wanting to shoot them in real life, I guess.

Re: The weekly debate thread #1

I thought you were faking the ban.............

And it depends what game. If you play an unrealistic game(Like LoZ) you're less likely to be more violent then if you played Modern Warfare. And television is the same...........

Cousin watches iCarly: Swears, is randomly rude to brother.
I watch South Park : Don't swear, can get along okay with my sisters.

So give the SP thing a break.

I like South Park. I watch it every so often. I swear.

It depends, is your cousin younger or older than you?

iCarly is a devil show teaching kids to be evil. My brother watches it a lot though, for some reason.

She's only a month older.

And she's a lot different.

Re: The weekly debate thread #1

Before it was radio that was evil, then television, not its video games. I think the real reason that people turn out good or bad is their family and their upbringing but people tend to get offended when they hear that they can't raise kids properly so they blame it on something else.

Hi, I am Archmage coder extraordinaire. I do Scratch, pascal, java, php, html, AS2 and AS3. Leave me a message if you want coding advice. Also check out my personal website, lots of good stuff about web development, Flash, and Scratch (v1 and v2) !

No, I'm pretty sure TV's the reason I occasionally attack people with a hockey stick. Yeah, I'll stick with that.

Hockey Stick? Blame that on the movies.

Like the one in the movie Benchwarmers where they're playing Mailbox Baseball.

Let's face it. All sorts of media are poisoning our minds.

Read 'slapping' as stabbing by mistake. Quite a chuckle, eh?

So you took turns slapping each other until you cried blood? 6th grade is a jungle.

Sweet - I wish the kids at my primary school did that. It would be a good laugh.
