I think it would be nice for new users, to recieve (I can't spell. ) a message when they first log on to scratch.
Some thing like,
"Hay __________, Welcome to Scratch! You can delete this message by clicking the "x" button to the left!"
It'd probably be easy to do as well.
What do you think?

I guess it would be nice to have a small tutorial to show off the scratch website Maybe in the form of a video.

Great idea, and I agree with Lucario621, we should have some kind of video to help beginners

I like the idea of a message - very friendly!
I also thought it would be kind of cool if new users found a project already loaded on their My Stuff page that had a welcome message along with maybe a short tutorial on how to use some of the web features. It seems to me that would be an easy way to make new users feel welcome and give them some useful information. And it would be easy to update, if you just had a certain standard project copied each time a new account was created

Even more awesome! A scratch project instead of a video
Here's another possibility though. Maybe it's automatically added to a person's favorites. The main reason I think it would be better, is because this way, there aren't thousands of the same project.

B2T i think it is a cool idea. Aslong as the vid is errm about 5-10 minutes long. That is my base standerd before I start snoring.

I can try making the video. I can use my voice in it, maybe. Or text.

If I were to do the video, would I:
-Create a video with video software
-Use flash and make a video
Both let me do more things
-Use scratch
Using scratch lets others see the source.
Tough choice...

I love this idea! It's one of the best suggestions I've ever seen!

Good idea. Perhaps write at the end of the message something about deleting your messages.

I think a Scratch project is the way to go...easier to make changes when the website changes. Also, the website is already set up to distribute Scratch Projects (particularly if we end up using the Favorites section, as Lucario621 suggested above).

Can some administrator delete all of my messages? I click on the x but it just doesn't work.

Lol, it would be a message, voices randomly coming out of the computer would scare away all new members

Ace, it'd be better if you just e-mailed the Scratch Team.

Can it be like this?
You have one new message
*checks messages*
And then the message?
