My suggestions for the site

for the site i was thinking of things that would make it even better.  here is what i came up with.

A game rating system: you could rate games out of ten.  basically it would be part of the commenting system.. people would be able to rate the game and comment.  this would also make it harder to spam on other peoples projects as they still have to give some input.
you could say something like how scratchers would feel bad with a low rating but the truth is a rating system isn't going to make that any worse.  people will comment saying mean things anyway and people will be nice anyway the rating system won't change that.

another suggestion I had would be to have a custom preloader.  i'm not sure how this would work but i think it would be awesome if in scratch you could design the preloader for your project.

and lastly this is somewhat unrelated but would it be possible to make scratch work like flash can.  that way it wouldn't lag so much online. by this i mean flash games don't lag online but scratch games do.

Re: My suggestions for the site

Nice suggestions. I think it would be cool to have a rating system, but of course it wouldn't work on just games. The only downside is that people could make mean comments along with a low rating. Or people could flame people who make project that they don't believe should get a higher rating than themselves.

And I would love to have Scratch work like flash, then I could post the game I made that overloaded the program.  lol

Re: My suggestions for the site

That is a nice idea... However, we should also offer the option of making the rating anonymous. I have encountered many projects that I don't like over the years, and I usually either don't comment, or comment with some constructive criticism. If the rating was public, and I put on what I really felt on some projects... well, then it would make me look like some pessimistic hater. That isn't really the reputation I was going for.

The other thing that should be considered is that there is a whole host of ages and abilities out there. If a 7 year old spends hours on a project, which, of course, would be very advanced for them, yet not so much for us, then they may get a low rating. Being 7, they could well take that to heart.

Re: My suggestions for the site

If u could make the rating anonymous then people could give projects zero without consequences.  I think scratchers aren't mean and if everyone is good to each other then this should work out fine
