Re: Scratch @ MIT Conference - 2008

I'll try my best to come! It would be great to meet some of my friends though. And I'm good at making movies and races too. I think I can get my parents to let me come!

don't have regrets, cause at one time thats exactly what you wanted to happen.

I am planning to fly to America this summer, maybe I could come!  big_smile

http://i52.tinypic.com/5es7t0.png I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

Re: Scratch @ MIT Conference - 2008

I would love to go to the conference. But have no plans to cross the atlantic. Maybe there could be a UK conference as well? Also wouldn't it be good for kids to help teach older, and younger, people in Scratch?

Re: Scratch @ MIT Conference - 2008

It's looking like I won't be coming either.  I have no travel funds for this summer, and my son has a theater class that week, so we won't be making a vacation out of going to Boston.

I'm afraid I can't make it either. Even though the Euro's so strong crossing the Atlantic exceeds my hobby-funds....

I'll be there. I was planning on visiting relative in the area in July, so it works out fairly well.

Why don't you have a kids' track at the conference? Many of us kids have worked together virtually and it would be great to meet in person, and the Scratch staff would be able to observe and talk with kids who use the program. You could have a room with several computers set up so people could use Scratch and work together. You could invite some of the best (kid) scratchers to give 15 minute talks on how they solved a programming problem or invented a new Scratch technique.

What do you think?

The adults could probably learn a lot from the kids also.

Cheers,

Good point calimero_200, most people probably couldn't be bothered crossing the atlantic just to get to a conference.

Re: Scratch @ MIT Conference - 2008

I might be coming to Boston over the summer and I'd love to annoy the Scratch team with my pleas for string and array variables, but I think I'd be better off watching online. Is there some way I can get a reminder e-mail so I don't miss it, get angry, and throw my monitor at the neighbor's dog?

What defines "best kid Scratchers"? I'm a kid; could I get onstage and explain why we need a "clear my pen" block?  roll
