On this recent thread, people have been discussing the changing of the TBG forums, and the Miscellaneous, along with many different solutions. This is my personal idea, which I thing would work greatly.

Miscellaneous forum - gets archived. But it will in a way, moved to the new TBG forum. But that will change because of this.

First, the url will be changed to something like "http://scratch.mit.edu/otherforum" instead of "http://scratch.mit.edu/tbgforum". This is because this new forum, will support TBG, along with Off-Topic subjects.

Second, many forums will be added. Just like in the scratch forums has Scratch, Scratch in other languages, Inspiration and More, and Archived, the new forum will have Text-Based-Games, and Off-Topic. Within Text Based Games, there will be Announcements, Suggestions, Counting Games, Word Games, Creative Games, Role-Playing Games, and other ones. Within Off-Topic, there will be Announcements, Suggestions, Polls, Recent Events, Hobbies, and other ones.

Thirdly, there will be a moderator election smile Oh boy, that will take a while. But worth it.

Now, why do I want to do this? Well the idea behind this, is to keep the Scratch Forums, Scratch Related, without having most of the attention on Miscellaneous.

I disagree. What reason is there to move to miscellaneous section somewhere else? Just delete the TBG forum and have no more of this creating new forums nonsense.

I agree with Ace that Miscellaneous doesn't need to be moved. There haven't been any problems with it like there were with TBGs, so it doesn't need to go through the same fate as the TBGs.

The problem is that everybody goes on the Scratch forums, but mostly just on off-topic places like Miscellaneous, and previously TBG, and I&M. I think the Scratch Forums should mostly be for discussing scratch-related topics. People can talk about recent events, their hobbies and more in other places, but that's not what scratch is about.

Every since Inspiration and More happened, the rest of the forum has become generally more neglected. But you wouldn't understand, because you joined more recently...

Why not have a misc section? Without an off-topic forum users will get bored when they have no project ideas and can't discuss the state of the community.

Why not have a misc section? Without an off-topic forum users will get bored when they have no project ideas and can't discuss the state of the community.

If somebody isn't working on projects/has no ideas, then they don't really belong in scratch. If they want to continue scratch though, they can always discuss ideas on the Project Ideas forum smile

The Miscellaneous forum would be added to the current TBG forum, and the TBG forum would be renamed the other forum or something.

Actually the TBG forum could still be miscellaneous since it is miscellaneous... Since that means other stuff anyway.
