Speeded-up sound in Squeak

Hey everyone,
I've been experiencing an interesting problem over the past few weeks. Increasingly, when I try to use sounds in Scratch (but not MIDI instruments) the sound gets sped up to irritating levels. When I view the sound under the sounds tab, the numbers indicating seconds into the song also speed up. This was fairly amusing at first, but it's pretty much uncontrollable, closing and reinstalling Scratch (or using a different IMAGE file, I must have 300 floating around my hard drive) does nothing, and my music now sounds a bit like Alvin and the Chipmunks. I'm wondering if this has something to do with Squeak, single stepping, or the MPEG plugin for Scratch. Any thoughts? Thanks,
Fullmoon

What operating system are you using? Do you have the latest version of Scratch?

Re: Speeded-up sound in Squeak

Andresmh, I use XP Home Edition 2001 with Scratch 1.2.1. This is where I generally do most of my Scratch programming. When I port it to my faster computer with internet access to upload it, it works fine. I can fiddle with the MIDI and WAV options under Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices, which seems fix it temporarily. I'm using a BricoPack Vista skin, but I don't think that should affect it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

That's not the problem, although I think it's big files that are slowing it down.

Re: Speeded-up sound in Squeak

fullmoon, now that you mention it: I have been observing the same after I recently got myself a new laptop with Vista on it and tried recording my own voice in Scratch. Scratch replayed that recording at a very high speed (which sounded very funny).

Yes, I have had that same problem! Go on my Fall For You project and listen closely-It will spee up, slow down, and at one point, turn to static- It happened once or twice when it started to, but now it happens almost every time i try and use a sound.
