Re: What is Mesh?

Well mesh can be used for many things as

1. Networking : In networking sense I think that is what you are talking about Mesh refers  to a group of computers joint together by a network to share DATA . For scratch it means u can connect more 2 scratches on two different computers in a mesh that means u can make a Online kinda thing but its too experimental now and does support only LAN \ Home \ Office networks not the INTERNET but its a cool feature thought

2. Graphic Designing : Here mesh means a collection of vertices in 3 dimensions that are used to generate a graphic model of something.

Re: What is Mesh?

More specifically, mesh in scratch was a feature in 1.4 beta, but was removed in the official release. It allowed multiple projects to access the variables of others, as well as have broadcasts be sensed by all connected projects.

If you want to try it out, you can use it in Jens' latest BYOB.

Re: What is Mesh?

If you don't want to get BYOB, you can 'hack' Scratch. Here's how:

1. Shift-click the R in Scratch (look at the upper-left corner of the Scratch program)

2. Select turn fill screen off.
3. You will see a white area at the bottom of the program. Click on it.
4. Select open.
5. Select browser.
6. Go to: Scratch-UI-Panes - ScratchFrameMorph - menu/button actions - addServerCommandsTo:.

7. Change t2 ← true. to t2 ← false..

8. Right-click on the 'green screen' and select Accept. It'll ask you to type your initials. Do whatever, and click Accept.
9. Exit the browser.
Done!

Any questions?

The sticky in Advanced Topics, Build Your Own Blocks (BYOB). Use the link or just look at the stickies in Advanced Topics.  smile
