Here's my fancy math problem:

It is 4:29 PM on December 6th, 1998 and there are 10 apples in a bowl. Bill takes 3 apples and makes applesauce. He gives an equal amount of applesauce to his 5 siblings, Susan, Alfred, Joe, Greg, and Morgan. Alfred doesn't like applesauce, so he evenly shares his applesauce with two of his friends, Zack and Bob. Zack really likes the applesauce so he takes all of the remaining apples in the bowl (except the one with a bruise.) He wants to make applesauce but he doesn't know how so he asks Bill to help him. Bill says he will only help if Zack will pay him $6.98. Zack only has $6.50 so he asks Susan to loan him the remaining 48 cents. Susan says she will loan him the money at an daily interest of 8%. Zack forgets to pay Susan until 23 days have gone by. How many apple were in the bowl at 4:29 PM on December 6th, 1998?
