Like the RCMP horse-naming contests! Okay, so it would have to start with S...
To be honest, I'm in this mentality that the Scratch cat's official name should be, well, 'Scratch' (you know, like Scratch the programming cat).
I think so too, and a lot of people call him that, right?

I believe that Scratch was built on Squeak programming, not 'Squeak' being the official name of the Scratch mascot. That, and Squeak already seems to have it's own mascot, a mouse which I suspect is named 'Squeak'. (LOL, 'Squeak Mouse' and 'Scratch Cat', they seem to go well together ).
Anyway, it seems here that everyone's agreed on having 'Scratch' (full name 'Scratch Cat') as the official name.

I want to name him "Scratchr", like all the impotent people are called on the forums.
Scratchr is a Scratch Team member, which I'm afraid to say Scratch the Cat is not.

So, Scratch Cat should be his name, or Scratch for short. It would be weird if he had a different name. Can you honestly look at the Scratch Cat and call him Bob or something like that? "Hi, I'm Bob."
It just doesn't work, does it?

I think Scratch sounds good—not only is it the name of the program, but Cats may also Scratch, get it?
But yeah, I think he should be called, Scratch.

His name is Bruce

Ace, please don't bump up old topics unless you have a good reason to (people have already agreed on Scratch Cat).
I think Scratch is the first name and Cat is the last.

Yeah, don't try talking down to me about that, I had a good reason. Someone made a another topic asking about the Scratch Cat's name, and cheddargirl put the link to this topic there.

I think of it this way:
Scratch [the] Cat
"Hello mr. Cat..."
"Cat... Scratch, Cat..."
Scratch Cat.

Or Bruce Banner, scientist by day, but when he gets angry, he becomes the Incredible Hu- Scratch Cat.

I don't really think putting a mouse and a cat together would work out. lol George the Scratch Cat. XD That would be a weird name. OwO But I agree, I guess everyone wants it to be Scratch.
Unless we called him George!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
XD

Yes, I'm quite curious if the cat that acts as the Scratch mascot has an official name. Or is the cute feline cartoon figure simply just known through ambiguous terms such as '[the] Scratch cat'?
(hey, the forums said that no question is too basic)
And there's another basic question: what is Scratch Cat's gender? Or does Scratch Cat even have an official gender?

IMO he's a boy, but that's just my opinion. I mean although Scratch is a cat, which is generally feminine, here it's different...
