I want a tutorials section on the front page by the Scratch team. I'd like little tutorials on basic stuff, like how to create good fire effects, how to make something look 3D, how to make a 'ninja rope', how to create a shadow; etc. I think this would help new members especially, but also help even advanced members to create better animations/games etc.
How about it?

On the front page? But wouldn't it be too hard to constantly search for tutorial projects for the front page?

Hmm... maybe there could be another branch of curators.
But that would be a bit much.
But I suppose someone could search "tutorial" and search the pages.
Instead, maybe a gallery on tutorials could get featured every once in a while...

I think it would be better to have a tutorials section in the Forums.

I agree.

Interesting! A good first step would be to make a gallery of tutorials. I know there are a bunch out there, but they aren't organized in a way that makes them easy to find. So adding them to a gallery would really help!

What I was thinking of, if it isn't to much for the Scratch team, is to create tutorials from the Scratch team. As in, a series of projects released by them that can help all members, even advanced ones.

That's also a great idea

I say we should have a forum area for this, and allow the [dohtml] tag for only that section!
(I know, security risks... maybe you could make that the forum would check text inside the tag to make sure that it's a scratch project?)

Well, here's all the galleries with the word "tutorial" in the name and at least 10 projects in them. Hope that helps

There's no doubt others as well. If anybody knows of them, maybe they can add them to this thread
I will now beat on the same drum I always do when this topic comes back up and say that what we really need is some way to organize within a gallery. We need sub-galleries and some way to change the order of items in galleries. Then we could make something really useful out of all this raw material.

Hmmm... you know about the blue buttons at the top of Scratch webpages? Maybe there could be one for tutorials, where people could submit them and view them.

We already sorta have that in the "support" link.
Tutorial scratch projects would be a hard thing to add because there are so many, and you don't want people to miss out.
Again, just allow [dohtml] in a section and check that the code is a scratch applet's code.
