I keep seeing posts stating things that are completely false. So I decided to make a list of myths or common mistakes that people seem to say. Here's the list:
1. Don't use the move ( ) steps block
There is nothing wrong with using the move ( ) steps block! It's just a simplified version of change x by (sin ( )) and change y by (cos ( ))!
2. Always use variables!
Using variables is a good thing, but you don't have to use them for everything. The exception is if you're making a template project, then you should use variables for things like movement speed so that people can customize their remix more.
3. Make 2 variables called "x velocity" and "y velocity"
It doesn't matter what you call your variables. Calling them those names will not automatically create realistic physics for your project.
4. Add lots of people to your friends list!!!
Having a lot of people on your friends list isn't an achievement. You should really only add people to your friends if you like their projects (so you can see their latest projects) or you're actually their friend. Otherwise, what's the point?
5. Make lots of projects so people see your stuff!!!
Making a lot of pointless projects may make people see your stuff a lot for a few weeks, but afterwards people will just think that your projects are boring and pointless. And then you get a lot less views.
6. Animations are EEVIIIIILLLLLLLLL!!!!
They're not evil, but think about it from the angry person's point of view: I spend HOURS and HOURS working on my project, and then this 5 SECOND ANIMATION gets on the front page??? Animation is programming in a way too!
That would make you feel bad, wouldn't it.
7. Beware of RHY (sorta a joke, don't take this one seriously)
If you're new, don't believe RHY when he says that the script is simple. To him, I believe LINE was simple (but long). So if RHY posted that "it's a really simple script", think twice about trying to remix. Scratch has crashed for me once.
Tell me what I missed!

Nice! But for the bit about animations, you might want to mention that animations are programming - a lot of people don't seem to realize that.
