Do you have to be a certain age or have your account for a long time to be a curator? I think it would be really awesome if I could become a curator
Nope, there's no particular age limit. We do try to pick long time Scratchers. It's hard choosing - we can only have 26 Curators per year, and a lot more than that apply!
For more about being curator, see this page:
http://info.scratch.mit.edu/Become_a_Scratch_Curator
Only 26? that means 2 weeks each.

I have been interested in becoming a scratch curator. Although I have my favorites, I'm always interested in finding new types of projects and programmers on the Scratch Website. I pick projects based on originality, smooth animation, impresive programming, art and humor. I will also select projects that i personally like and ones that i think arent getting the attention and praise it deserves. I want to make sure the people of Scratch will be able to see the greatest projects the website has to offer. Please take my request into honorable consideration. And Thank you very much for your time
I'd just like to repost to let you know im still interested '_'

i'd love to be a curator! it's true, my gallery has been featured recently, and i do have quite a lot of experience in choosing projects! the downside is that my favourite projects are OSes, and the gallery was great because people added and i checked. here it would be me that goes and adds. but i was wondering if by any chance i would be allowed to choose the best of those in my gallery mixed in with some tutorials, and add one a day (that way each project would be visible for 3 days). i really wouldnt mind if you chose me in a month or so, ive been in scratch for almost a year and got gradually better, and wouldn't mind waiting another bit for this great opportunity! of course, i would add any kind of project if i thought it awesome...
To finish off, if you dont like my idea of being a curator im letting you know that i would like to be a more active participant in the communtiy, and that any little job can make me happy.
Thanks for everything,
Scratch on!

After seeing the good that curators can do, I thought I might apply.
Curating projects has a lot more effect than I had expected. I thought it might only add a bit of magic to the scene, but it can result in far more. Some projects have been curated and then Top Loved, which is great for the selected user.
If I were to be curator, I would follow a set plan. It would run as follows:
Days 1 and 2: Games, a nice starter
Days 3 and 4: Physics simulations and such
Days 5 and 6: 1-Sprite 1-Script projects (none of the already popular ones)
Days 7 and 8: Artificial Intelligence
Days 9 and 10: Projects that push the limit
Days 11 and 12: Projects from different categories
Days 13 and 14: Similar to the old Surprise Projects feature, but with careful selection.
I would try and avoid curating users who have been frontpaged multiple times already, or projects with over 1000 views. Sometimes I might drift out of plan, because a great project can always present itself.
Please consider me as curator.

MRN did themed projects as curator... must take a lot of work to put it all together. It's a good idea though...
