Previously I had an uploading problem. I had to disable Firewall via McAfee, in order to upload, temporarily. Back then I tried out doing mesh projects, but it didn't work for me Recently (a month ago maybe) I found the solution to the problem, so I made it allow. Now I tried out RHY3756547's Mario vs. Yoshi Mesh project, and it suprisingly worked. Also since I fixed the McAfee problem, I didn't try out any mesh stuff. This now means that mesh works for me, as far as connecting, so I can make some mesh games!!!
Do you think I should make some mesh games, perhaps one for the Mario Kart? Discuss

Putting the word mesh into things doesn't make them cool

Anyway, do you think I should make a Mario Kart Mesh game?

Mesh means multiplayer scratch, between two computers...

It's not a word to sound cool, its a feature on Scratch.

Yeah, why?

The word Mesh makes me think of something rather unpleasant so I'll call it Multiplayer

Makes me think of a deathtrap......like the reversed bear traps in Saw. I never watched it, but I heard about it. *off-topic*
Yeah, a mesh version would be epic.

i say you should work on a mesh and a non-mesh version one at the same time. or do the mesh one second, after you know what the basis of your scripts will be. but you should totally make a mesh mario kart!

yes! you should make a menu so that you can play either two player or single player in the same project!

Implementing mesh into the one project would be great. I always love games with multiple game modes.

Is mesh fast enough to support a mario kart type game? Last time I tried mesh it had issues running my pong game, so maybe they made it better?

It's not in scratch, which is a bad sign.
I made a Mario vs. Yoshi mesh game and played it over wifi with my brother but for some reason only the host's movements appear laggy, all clients update each other's movements instantly.
There was a 0.5 second delay between me jumping and the other PC recieving it, but a 0 second delay when the other PC player jumped...

Try RHY3756547's project; its a lot better/faster. Maybe you just didn't program it well

*gasp*
But apparantly archmage was the best programmer evar back then?

I never said I was the best programmer ever or even an advanced programmer, its just a hobby for me. I know you, lucario, really support Rhy but really he isn't the best role model for programming either. Look up Emanuele Feronato or Kirupa for some really good coding examples. For example you could easily make a version of Gale3D (or his other 3D things) by applying the concepts from this page http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actionscript/3dindex.htm
Anyways, the pong program was just a very minimal simplistic test so it was pretty hard to make mistakes. I just tested the pong program in the new mesh and mesh is definitely much better than it was in the first version of mesh. I got the very first version of mesh which was included in the beta of v1.4 which was a few months ago.

I used to have the same glory that I have over RHY right now on you, but you left, so there's nothing much to be constantly impressed by. But now RHY is here, and he's doing a lot more stuff, and a lot more cooler stuff, and he is a really good coder, and he definitely knows how to optimize code and what not. He's also good with graphics, which definitely isn't one of you're 'specialties'.

Eh whatever floats your boat. But to find really good programmers you have to look beyond scratch. You could probably because much better than Rhy if you dedicated a solid year to learning java or some other language.

I agree with archmage.I studied libertybasic in a programming book for just two weeks, and it helped me to learn scratch at nearly twice the rate of my peers.A year with a real language like flash would have profound impacts on someones programming in scratch. My main roadblock with that is that all of the programming books I can find out there(with the exception of a few "Learning _ For Dummies" books)are all cut-and-dry;they have NOTHING that keeps me reading them.

I get sick from looking at HTML coding.
Ah, reading this, now I actually DO feel a bit sick. Why do you learn all the different programs when you probably will only "need" to learn 2 or 3?
