Scratch Reading Video Files

I thought of a way for Scratch to read movie files (.mov, .avi, etc.)  Here is how it should work:

Scratch opens the video file, and changes each scene to a costume.  Then the music turns into a single sound.

Can Scratch be able to do that soon?

Re: Scratch Reading Video Files

It does. Ive tried. I am trying to import a video of me doing a Rubik's cube, but I can't because it only imports 12 comstumes.

Re: Scratch Reading Video Files

Currently Scratch cannot import video. You can do what you are trying to do with some software to convert a video to an animated GIF. Example: http://google.com/search?q=mpeg+to+animated+gif
and then import the GIF into Scratch.

Importing of video was part of one of the early versions of Scratch but it was removed because it was too confusing for beginners. It might be reconsidered in the future.

Thanks.

Re: Scratch Reading Video Files

It was a very early one that was never released.

Re: Scratch Reading Video Files

This sounds neat. Does it include the sound when you import the video, or not? Also, the video just keeps on going on and repeating forever, right?
