Bad header?

Hi, I'm trying to download projects, but it keeps saying: Could not read, bad header. What does this mean and how can I fix it?

Re: Bad header?

I believe that's a sign that the project you downloaded was made with a newer version of Scratch -- update yours to the latest (1.3.1 at the moment), and it should open them fine.

Re: Bad header?

It's on the front page, to the right of newest projects. But I'll save you time: click here

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.

Tell your teacher to stuff a sock in it because most Scratch files don't work with 1.2.1 anymore

That is... rather a cruel and blunt way to put it. It's also not very helpful.  sad

Hey neal123, Scratch projects designed in Scratch 1.3 or higher will not run in Scratch 1.2.1 (hence the "bad header" error). However, the current version (Scratch 1.4) should be able to run projects designed in older versions. If your teacher is insistent on using Scratch 1.2.1 for whatever reason, download and install Scratch 1.2.1 and Scratch 1.4 on your computer (make sure you install Scratch in two different locations); use Scratch 1.2.1 to design your projects and use Scratch 1.4 to view projects only.  smile
