Upcoming Changes to the 'Inspiration and More' forum

Yep, that's right, the Scratch Team will soon be making changes to the 'Inspiration and More' forum!  big_smile

Currently, the 'Inspiration and More' forum section is labeled under the heading 'Other':

This layout will be changed so the heading 'Other' is renamed to 'Inspiration and More', with the following forum sections:

Collaboration - Join with others to collaborate on Scratch projects.
Requests - Looking for something? Want to offer your skills to others? Post here.
Project Ideas - A good place to get help thinking of ideas for projects.
Miscellaneous - Use this forum if you are not certain if the topic is directly related to Scratch.

As for the current 'Inspiration and More' section, it will probably be archived and the most recent IaM threads (the first few pages or so) moved over to one of the sections above. We are also thinking about creating a 'transfer request' thread where others can request their threads to be moved.

Why the changes? Currently 'Inspiration and More' is becoming a bit of a clutterbox, piling up with request threads, idea threads, collab threads, and everything else that does fit anywhere else in the forums. These changes will help make it easier to navigate and find certain topics of interest. Scratch On!  smile

That's wierd... I thought I saw Jonathonpb's name in that post but I looked through it and it's not there

Currently, the above categories is the layout that the Scratch Team has in mind.

But, it's not to say that the above layout is permanent and rigid. It's possible that 'Miscellaneous', in the future, may become overcluttered with a new significant topic(s) that may need their own forum section - if that is the case, the Scratch Team can always make a new forum section(s) if needed.  smile

Anyway it's nice that you spread it additionally into Requests and Collaboration, but I think you should spread it out more. One of them should be polls...

The one problem with this is that some sections, like miscellaneous will have way more posts than others, like collaboration projects, so the amount of traffic to the sections will be very different, meaning that the importantness of some sections won't be as much as other sections, which may lead to another TBGesque arguement over "Is this section necessary?" and "Should x section be merged with y section?". It's a good idea, but I think it's just got that one flaw.
