sketchup

how do I get 3D sketchup models into scratch like everyone else does?

I think most people aren't using Sketchup. Google's modeling program is designed more for buildings than rotatable turtles and cats. Try software like Blender or Anim8or!

I don't think you can because SketchUp can't export as an image. You could always take a picture of the screen (PRNT SCRN button, paste in image editior like MSPAINT), crop out everything except the model, save, import into Scratch if you wanted to.

I use google scetchup, and it works.
i make my model, get a nice view, go to export, 2d graphic, save as...
i turn little bit, export, i turn little bit, export,......................................................
