My Messages Are Laggy. And guess why?

I hear that if some people refuse to delete their messages, it makes other people's messages extremely laggy. Am I correct?

Lately, my messages have been lagging for up to two hours before they show up. For example, if i ask someone "Are you online? I want to RP." and they reply right away, I will have no way of knowing until they're long since gone.

So people, if my theory IS correct, take a deep breath and delete your messages. It's cool to have a lot, but guess what? It's making everyone else unhappy. Seriously, I'm not trying to be mean, but it's getting on my nerves. And I'm probably not the only one.

Err I don't think you get how it works. Due to changes in the way messages are displayed it doesn't show your current messages anymore and instead updates about every 10 minutes. But deleting messages should make the servers faster overall.

I guess it should theoretically speed up queries to the messages too. So it should speed up messages in general but maybe not noticably.

It's okay to keep a few, just delete them once it gets into the 30's  tongue

Re: My Messages Are Laggy. And guess why?

I don't think deleting messages or making the servers faster will help you with your particular problem very much. What you are saying is that you don't like how you don't get a message right when you get a reply and that server lag is the cause of this. This isn't the case. How it works is that your message only update every 10 minutes so unless you get a reply when it hits the interval you will never be able to see your new messages right away.

Re: My Messages Are Laggy. And guess why?

One thing you can try is to keep http://scratch.mit.edu/notifications open in a separate tab/window, and every now and then reload the page. That's where you can see your messages, and they show up in there long before it tells you that you have any.

I'm taking a break from Scratch until 2.0 comes out. Any messages sent between then and now probably won't be read - sorry.
