Help!?!

i need a costume for my school play.  were performing little shop of horrors and i play a homeless person.  i need to find a costume (it takes place in the 50's, and im homeless)  im googling it but its tough to find anything.  any suggestions?

You always need a cardboard sign that says "homeless, please help" or "looking for job" and a shopping cart to keep your belongings in.

This isn't really my department, but I'd have to say Hobos in the 50's dressed in greasy dress shirts, ragged sweats and shoes, and torn bowler hats. Look at the Olliver Twist old movie for references, I think that happens around the 1950's, probably.
