"Failed: Unknown Reason."

I have a new computer, and for several days, it was fine. Now, I get this message every time I try to share a project. The firewall and Internet are both fine. What's going on?!?!?!?!!?!?!?

Is your internet connected correctly?

If it is, have you got ANY security settings that maight be stopping you from uploading?

Nope.  sad  I can probably join other sites to upload it on, though; what are some good ones?

Yes this happened to me also once. It seems to be a minor glitch that gets fixed after about a week...  hmm

Re: "Failed: Unknown Reason."

I had the same problem but it only happend on a computer running windows vista. What I did was save the project, close down scratch, open up scratch, open up my project and try to upload it again and that worked for me every time.

It never happened on a computer running windows xp.

So if it happens again try what I said.

Edit: This maybe another reason why it happens (I'll have to get other scratcher's opions to confirm this) is that the "Failed Unknown Reason" error only happend on computers using wireless internet.

Find someone post count. Click posts under username. Find number of pages. Times that by 40 for min and 60 for max and you have a rough estimate of post count.

What-the: I though so.

Uncheck the compress thing and it should work...

Re: "Failed: Unknown Reason."

Interesting... We have been getting several reports of this "Failed: Uknown Reason" problem. But we cannot isolate the steps it would take to recreate it. Also, it seems like it was happening last week when we were having some server problems, and maybe it's better now?

If anyone can figure out exactly how to reproduce this (if it is still happening), it would be really helpful. When Scratchers let us know the exact steps required to make a problem happen, it is super helpful. Because in order to fix a problem, we have to be able to see it happen first. Check this project out for more details:

Its not a question of reproducing it.  It just happens inexplicably.  It will finish trasferring all the infromation, and while it is waiting for a response, it will suddenly fail for an "unknown reason".  The only time I have ever gotten this to work is when i unchecked the compress files box, and even then only once.

Re: "Failed: Unknown Reason."

I am experiencing the problem right now too. It only uploads occasionally. Otherwise I still get the same error. It is really frustrating. Maybe it has to do with Scratch for Windows Vista?

Edit: Ok, well I don't think the problem is related to the user's computer because when I upload my CPU usage looks fine.

Re: "Failed: Unknown Reason."

I think I've figured it out! I believe it has to do with the Scratch server and uploading multiple projects at once. I bet that since traffic on Scratch has gotten so massive, almost every minute two people are uploading projects at the same time. The server can't handle that, so it gives people a "Failed: Unknown Reason" error. I came to this conclusion after I tried uploading it at night and if I tried uploading my project twice after reciveing the error, it usually suceeded! It also gets worse in the afternoon (when most people are online and uploading projects). So if you can't upload it at one time of day, try it another time!

Keep in mind though that this is just a hunch and I don't have proof.

Re: "Failed: Unknown Reason."

I get this message for only SOME of the projects I try to upload. Maybe it's because I forgot to compress everything? But my project is only 1 MB!  hmm

I agree... But for me, it never works when I close, save, and re upload.

I have XP, and it happened on a project that was 6 MB, less than Scratch's load limit.
