Re: Can I export my Scratch project to another file format? (exe, swf)

I made an animation using scratch, and it would be nice to make this into a .wmv or any other movie file.

You could try using a screen capture program. There's this one called Jing which I found really helpful, and it converts to Flash files - you just need Flash to view it, plus it's really easy to embed into webpages. Here's a link: http://www.jingproject.com/

Re: Can I export my Scratch project to another file format? (exe, swf)

you can,all you have to do is open documents on your computer,go to scratch projects, put a blank floppy disk in your computer disk drive, burn the selected scratch project to the disk, put the disk to a playstation 2(you need the computer drive upgrade to access the game)and watch or play your project.BUTTONS:Green flag scripts:Start Button,up,down, left, right:direction buttons,If you put questions in the project, you need a key board to answer them.
Questions? hmm  Drop them at my comments

Um, fireball77, what at all made you think that was possible? Playstation 2s cant run Java. They dont have any implementation of Scratch either. Im pretty sure you can record fluid Scratch animations if you get a good screen recorder (e.g. Fraps) and have a half-decent graphics card, maybe around a 9400GT.

A built in screen-recorder would be great on scratch, but currently that is a long shot. Scratch is great the way it is I think.

I have had a little trouble with the timer function on scratch. You can't pause it, show it or hide it

This isn't really the place to post that. Anyway, the timer function is mainly used for more accurate timing. Really, one of the main things is just to do this with the timer:
<( <timer> <=> number )>

Along with the <reset timer> block, it could be helpful for timing stuff.

Try doing a search on Scratch2exe - it's a utility that Jens made that will package up Scratch and a project into an EXE file that can be run on a Windows PC that doesn't have Scratch installed on it.

Now "giveaway of the day" is giving away a screen recorder Democreator on June 29.
I downloaded and have a try with Photoshop to record quick sketch. It work fine.
Besides exe and swf Animation output, I find other popular video formats.

Re: Can I export my Scratch project to another file format? (exe, swf)

Can anyone help me transport a project to an application (exe) file? I would really like to program that way without having to use a different application that isnt incredibly easy like scratch. It would be much easier to get more attention, too.

Hey calypso, Scratch exports sprite costumes usually as a BMP file, so, if you want to change it into a JPEG format (or any other format), you'll need an image editor (any one will do). Just open up the image in the image editor and use the 'Save As' menu option to save the image as a JPEG.  smile

Hey DucksINC, there is currently no way to have Scratch files exported into another media format, but if you want to turn your project into a movie, you could use a screencapture software (that is, a software that will record the computer screen). If you don't want to download a screencapture software, I believe a site called Screentoaster allows you to do the same thing without downloading anything.  smile

For some reason when I export it it is a .sprite file and when I try to open it in a image editor it says it doesn't reconize the file  sad

Ah, you have the export the images of the sprite, not the sprite itself (that is, you have to click on the costume tab of the sprite and right click on its costumes to export it).  smile

Re: Can I export my Scratch project to another file format? (exe, swf)

This is the easiest solution for CD files.
Place the
Scratch.image
Scratch.exe
Scratch.app
Scratch.(Unix app extension)
And all the DLLs on the Scratch.exe into a CD.
For TV shows insert that into the computer and run the .sb file.

Re: Can I export my Scratch project to another file format? (exe, swf)

Could someone give me the direct link to the .sb applet download? I keep seeing a lot of people saying that you can download it from MIT but I can't seem to find it. Also, would the .sb file work on wix.com websites?
