If you dont know much about scratch let someone who does take over this thread.

I wouldn't mind.  I wouldn't consider myself a "pro" but I think I know enough to help some people.

Re: Ask me anything, for i am a Pro Scratcher

oh ok. do you know the model you want? go to google and search "3D [insert model name here]" and get a picture, click it, do the full size thing, then right click your mouse button on the picture and click "save as" and save it somewhere and then go to scratch and whee it says paint a sprite right next to it should be a floder type thing click it, and find your 3D model that you saved, the double click it, and you will have the sprite. next go to costumes and edit it, by clicking the fill in button, setting the color to that grey and white checkerboard, and click the (probably white) backround and viola.

markyparky56:

The correct answer is "you can't", as Scratch only handles 2d images.

What you CAN do is take several pictures of a 2d object/model from different direction, and import them all as costumes to the same sprite, so that you can simulate turning that object by changing the costume of the sprite.

Re: Ask me anything, for i am a Pro Scratcher

Heybrian, maybe you can make a tutorial project that shows step by step how to import 3D art into scratch. The tutorial should also include a sample piece of 3D art to demonstrate how it's done.

Re: Ask me anything, for i am a Pro Scratcher

for the timer, create a script like this:

                      <when green flag clicked>
                      <reset timer>

                     And for scoring just do

                   <when green flag clicked>
                   <forever if><touching[ enemy
                   <change{scrore  }by(-1

                   <when green flag clicked>
                   <forever if><touching[ good guy
                   <change{score  }by( 1

Like that and with blender, you have to "save as" all the pictures then upload all of them in scratch and animate it by next costume.

Re: Ask me anything, for i am a Pro Scratcher

Sorry to intrude, Heybrian, but I'll save you some work. Jom, any videos that look like Youtube you see on Scratch are taken using desktop video capture software (that lets you take videos of your desktop, as if you were recording your monitor with a camera). The videos are generally converted to animated GIF images in software like Flash from Adobe, then dragged into Scratch. Each frame becomes a costume. I don't know of any screen capture program that lets you export as GIFs, so the short answer is, no, there is no way to get youtube videos into Scratch without expensive software and lots of patience. If you still want to try, download screen-capture software like CamStudio, which is the free alternative to the more popular HyperCam. Then, you can e-mail me the video using this address. I'll put it into Flash and export it as images you can use for your project. Be warned, however, that lots of costumes generally equals large load times.

Re: Ask me anything, for i am a Pro Scratcher

Yes, you are correct. But sometimes you have to animate it yourselve. Also, theres a camera that takes like 5 pictures per second, so if you use that and animate it, then it will look like youtube.

Re: Ask me anything, for i am a Pro Scratcher

Taking a picture of a monitor will look horrible-the screen will appear lined and fuzzy (otherwise, pirating DVDs would be extremely easy).

Would using a moniter recording software let you record at the same time as watching a DVD?  If so, then it still is exteremely easy.
