We're thinking about different ways for helping people participate in Scratch@MIT, if they can't come to Cambridge for the conference. We plan to record video of some sessions and make the session descriptions available online, and we will encourage people to blog the conference in real-time. What suggestions do you have for including people who will be far away?

I can't come to Cambridge because I live in San Jose. I thought the conference could be online and we talk through comments or some type of blog system.Like a forum! We could talk through a forum.

I really want to go. But It´s too far away (living in Sweden). Or might there be some kind of scholarschip that are granted for people in EU... that´ll be nice...
Why not give some of the most intresting lectures online in Second Life?
But it´s ok with streaming video.
Merry Christmas

I agree with many of the other posts- record it and stream it online on Quicktime or something.
If that isn't possible, than make an outline of the lectures and post them (and any visual aids) on the website.

definitely agree with the other posts, i can't go (i live in Mississippi), video recordings of presentations, live discussion sessions in forum, outlines... maybe create a special section of the forum during the conference that will allow people to just submit questions to be answered (and recorded and put online, or in an outline) at the conference by the ppl there. Hmmm.... can't think of any other ideas...
Wish I could go....

Yeah, I'd really like to see or find out what happens in the conference, but I live in France... Perhaps someone could film it?

Is Indiana a little close? I really want to go!!!! Its way to much though... Gas money, hotel money, entrance money, even more gas money! It's going to be a real fight between my parents. (thats an expression) Couldn't there be some way to get there cheap?

Well, some sort of system that could allow a video chat with people once asked to speak, as if they were there. So that if someone had something to say on the matter (whilst watching it of course), they could press a button or something instead of physically asking to talk (Impossible if you are 100s of miles away!), then, when it's there turn to speak, they are granted audio access so that by using a microphone and webcam they could express there views, as if they were actually there. Do you understand?

Videoconferencing as messd002 imagines it is technically possible now, but the attempts I've seen at it almost always have run into time-wasting glitches. Perhaps in a few years the infrastructure will be robust enough and standardized enough to do this routinely, but I suspect it would add too much of a burden on this first-time conference.

I like the idea about videoing sessions and putting them online - maybe a streaming video?

Yeah I agree I live in England and we're not exactly rich so it would be pretty hard to get all 5 of us out there. I think it should be online next time
