Website improvements

What do you think could improve the site?
I've got one: Being able to hold arrow keys down in projects instead of having to tap it constantly.
Also, I have problems adding comments on projects.  sad

Anything you think needs improving on the website?

Re: Website improvements

I originally found this problem on Youtube. I think comments should be in a separate frame (or in the original view, if you like it), so you can view comments and the project at the same time.

Re: Website improvements

Actually, if you put the right script in you don't have to tap it constantly. instead of:
[blocks]
<when[ down arrow ]key pressed>
<change y by( -1)>

You can do:

<when green flag clicked>
<forever>
<if><key[ down arrow ]pressed?>
<change y by( -1)>
<end>
<end>
[/blocks]
It works perfectly. You do not need to tap things.

Re: Website improvements

Looby: what exactly do you mean with zoom?

As for projects getting stuck when loading, which project are you referring? All of them? Do you even see the "Loading..." bar? In most cases I have seen, projects with large music files or a lot of images tend to go beyond the default limits of the Java Virtual Machine and fail to load. You can try avoiding putting large music files in your projects and see if this fixes the problem.

Do you happen to use MacOS and Java 1.5? I think in some machines this causes sessions to expire and log you out. We are still not sure why this happens but we'll look into it.

Re: Website improvements

By zoom I mean on scrolling projects I set a sprite the size of the stage to 200% size. Works on Scratch but the website doesn't seem to like it.

I use MacOS 10 point something but I dunno about Java. Most of time the loading bar doesn't come up.

They should make the website a bit less glitchy.

Re: Website improvements

When I receive messages, I'd rather not go back into the message center to delete them after viewing comments or replies. How about a "View and delete message" option for comments and replies?

IT LOGS ME OUT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. We have narrowed down the problem of frequent session time out to Mac OS X with a specific version of Java.

It was about auto logouts - update your version of Java to get rid of this problem.

I have that exact problem.

My project has one music file but it's four minutes long and I think it's the cause of my project not loading.(It gets to the end and stops.) My project only uses one minute of the song. Is there any program I can use to shorten the music? Or is there some other way?

Re: Website improvements

The zoom is because scratch can't really handle big sprites yet though

Dear Scratch Users,
I'm done with scratch, or at least making projects. I have made one last big game, thats both fun and teaches a lesson about water. It'd mean a lot if you gave me feedback.                              http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/bosox397/569201

Sure...you can use Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net .  It is free and can be used to shorten up audio files as well as do lots of other things.  You can also try increasing your Java memory limits, take a look here...

Re: Website improvements

I Hope This Goes With The Topic...
I Want to be able to make a scratch group example RPG Makers. And If You Want You Can Add The Tag To Your Username like RPMPolice Then when ever i want to i can take it out so my username is Police. Here I'll Try To Make A Project That Show How I Want It To Look Like. And A Page That You Can Have 3 slots To Add Anything You Want To Your Name Like Paddle2See has another account Called Paddle2SeeFixit. That Way You Don't Need To Make A New Account. And I Don't Know Why The Scratch Police Needs To Go Undercover... But There's Another Slot Where You Can Have a "Undercover Username" or Just For Fun, Have A Completly Different Username on the same account.

We The Scratch Police,CIA, and Secret Police(not so secret though lol)
