Should have been implemented as down on the C-buttons. Seeing navi blow up and disappear for a while would be quite stress relieving.

If it's based on Avatar, than it's the stupidest Avatar-related thing I've ever seen before.
It's not even slightly based on that.
Definition of Avatar: Something that can be manipulated.
The avatars are the na'vis (natives to the planet) they can control.

I SAW IT. It was awesome, with a dazzling storyline. My dad usually doesn't like to discuss movies but after we saw this, he just said, "So [real name], what do you think the message of the movie was?"
Then I said, "Uhhh...something about how like people shouldn't go insane about getting what they want from somebody else's property even if that somebody else stands in your way."
He said, "Exactly." XD

I saw it,and though the plot has been used similarly in other places, james cameron definitly was succesful in adapting it for sci-fi use.I also loved that almost every technology in the movie was feasible...and the attention to detail in the movie the movie that cameron often provides made the movie absolutly gorgeous.

I also thought the movie had a strange connection to The Matrix. Like how Jake is put in that box thing and his Avatar wakes up, and in The Matrix Neo is lying in a chair in the real world with his eyes closed and living life in his Matrix-self, similar to Jake's Avatar-self.

The movie has nothing to do with that terrible Nickelodeon show.... Just clearing things up...
Yeah, the movie was in production several years BEFORE the cartoon, actually. To clear things up further, here's the basic storyline:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the 2100's,the human race is in an energy crisis. However, the problem may be solved by a room temperature superconductor called unobotanium, which is only found on the earth-sized moon of Pandora,a lush tropical jungle with a poisonous atmosphere, orbiting Alpha Centauri.Because of the vast distances between earth and pandora, unobotanium sells for $20,000,000/kilo.The story begins when Jake Sully,a former marine who was parilized from the waist down in combat, was sent to pandora to replace his twin brother, who was shot by an armed robber weeks before he was to go.Jake's brother had been part of the avatar program,a scientific experiment to try to improve relationships with the na'vi,a blue,10 ft tall indigenous race on pandora,by taking DNA from a na'vi and human volunteer to create a clone with enough human DNA to be controlled by a person. When Jake arrives on pandora after a 6-year journey,he originally is positioned as a guard for avatar scientists because of his lack of training. He then gets seperated from the group after being chased by one of the dangerous creatures on pandora. He is then forced to stay the night in the forest and is nearly killed by wolflike creatures until Neytiri, the na'vi princess of the Omaticaya clan, saves him. When Jake attempts to follow her,she refuses, saying he is one of the "sky people" and does not belong with them(she likely knows this because of the small diffrences between avatars and na'vi). However, she changes her mind after dozens of spores from the sacred "Tree of souls" that the na'vi worship land on Jake. After a discussion among the people of the Omaticaya,Neytiri is charged with teaching Jake the ways of the na'vi.Jake is initially charged with reporting data on the na'vi to the military figures in the human base, but he eventually falls in love with Neytiri and the na'vi culture. But when the leaders of the human base decide to attack the na'vi in order to obtain unobotanium, despite the pleas of jake and several scientists,Jake tries to warn the na'vi to leave. The na'vi belive that this makes Jake a trader, and so they tie him down and attempt to attack the human gunships with arrows. After doing almost no damage, the largest gunship fires missiles at the na'vi,killing a large number of na'vi including the clan leader. When Jake tries to comfort Neytiri, she yells at him that this is his fault and to never come back.Jake then gains the respect of the Omaticaya once more by taming the Great Leonoptyrex, the fierciest of the pandoran creatures.Using his position,Jake and several other avatars rally the na'vi tribes together for the first time in generations to prepare for one last battle against the humans. And when they clash...well,i'll let the ending surprise you.
