Once, my father told me, "It's hard to be with people of another religion until you realize the common idea of religions. That common idea is to respect life."

When I heard that, I realized why I felt so against abortion. I actually respected life.

He also told me that a lot of the old testament was poetic, untrue. I figured that religion was an excuse for everything in this world as well as that common idea.

Does that mean atheists do not respect life? That they use the bible's falseness to say they are better when they are not?

A simple quiz can test this.

The Quiz:
1. Do you support abortion?
2. Are you an atheist?
3. Do you think atheists are better than religious people?

That is not exactly true. Respect towards life is common among all humans. Therefore, there is no reason to thin kthat atheists "don't respect life". D:

What the heck? Abortion?!?! I don't think we should be talking bout that since there are 8 year olds in this forum... I don't think parents would like it if their 8,9,10,11,12 or year old would go up to them misuse the word abortion like for example,

What they meant was if you support abortion is that you have NO choice to choose abortion or NOT. So if you were knocked up and it was on purpose they killed your baby because you had no choice would you like that!?!?

I would want to have a choice. I am pro-choice, as oppose to those that are against abortion and pro-life. Just because I am for abortion dosnt mean I want it to be forces onto people. Not at all

and the way yo are saying I would mean tha anone that is pregnant would have to get an abortion, right? Andthen the human race would just die out so...

Atheists don't hate life. In fact, I'm pretty sure I enjoy it more than I would if I were religious. We don't have some all-mighty deity that'll burn us in hell if we disobey. I don't think it's logical that a deity exists, but I have nothing against people who believe in such.

Wrong the WHOLE subject about supporting abortion is about not having a CHOICE about abortion. That's what the subject meant NOT supporting abortion to stay.

1. about abortion: i really don't know. it's not my opinion that decides and i think that it's a very difficult decision. i do believe that if you don't want your child then you should put them up for adoption instead of abortion

No. Atheists are just as likely to respect life as any religious person. But they do so due to actually respecting the rights of others. Not because they are afraid of punishment from some heavenly judge, jury and executioner.

1. I support the mothers right to choose. Even if every child were wanted and every would-be mother was in a position to give their child the love and support it needs, there would still be justification for abortion for medical reasons, where the life of the mother is endangered by carrying the baby to term.

2) Yes. So are you. You don't believe in lots of different gods. I just believe in one less than you.

3) Define "better". There are good and bad people in every religion, and amongst the non-religious too.

4) Stupid? No. Irrational? Yes. But *everybody* does irrational things.
