Wahoo! It's snowing!

It's snowing like crazy where I live!  Let it snow, let it snow!
I was hoping I'd get snow all winter!  And now it's snowing so much, in a few minutes it got to be an inch!

We got 12 inches one year  hmm

I suppose it is due to the Gulf Stream (yay, time to show that I wasn't asleep in Geography!) that passes near to the British Isles on its way from Mexico. However, in Canada, Alaska and Northern Main USA, the Gulf Stream does not flow close enough to the land for the climate to be as mild as that of the British Isles, even at the same longitude (or is it latitude? - I forget which way round they go).  Also, there is a current of cold water that comes from the Arctic Circle (forgot what its called - maybe I was asleep at that point?) which heads southward down the east coast of North America. By the time it reaches Mexico, the water heats up and joins the Gulf Stream. This body of water travels around the world (not sure of the exact route), and ends up back in North America. Then, from this, there are the atmospheric pressures (higher in cold areas, lower in warm) which cause air currents (basically, wind) and weather.

That's all I can remember at the moment...
