when opening it says "error reading project: message not understood"

when i click on my animation, scratch opens and it's starts loading.  it says "reading..." then stop while the bar is about a quarter loaded and says: "error reading project: message not undersood"
what do i do??

same thing happens for me with uploaded programs. I tried it with two programs, and I am going to get some more so I can be sure.

Hi, I'm trying to understand what is happening to see if I might be able to help. 

Is this a problem trying to open a particular Scratch project file in Scratch (as opposed to opening and running them on the website)?     If so please describe your computer OS and Scratch version.

If this occured with downloaded files, did you try to redownload (just to be sure the file was not corrupted during the download) or try a different file?
