Blood. You flagged it just for having blood. It's people like you that make my life miserable at school.

BLOOD????????????????????????? Clearly you are just erm.... ignorant and crazy. You flag something for a few red lines? It's not even realistic blood.

I thought manga and anime is really for everyone in Japan. It really depends on which series.

It depends on what the project is about. If its violent for no reason, like projects I have seen where someone makes a project with lots of blood and gore becuase they think its funny, then it just shouldn't be there and I flag it. But if its a shooting game, and its actually fun to play or an animation that is fun to watch, that includes a little violence, then what I do is put a warning at the begining stating it is voilent and if you are disturbed by violence, don't view it. In other words, I think it depends on how much violence there is and if the project is usefull or not.

1) 8-bit shouldn't have realistic blood
2) Anime is adult oriented. There are like 2 kids series, but it's geared for adults.

Not quite... While yes, there is obviously anime geared towards an adult-only audience, there is also a significant amount that is otherwise geared for a younger audience. For example, the show "Magical DoReMi" could be considered an anime for children.
The problem comes into anime series that is geared for the slightly older and adolescent audience. Many cultures have different views on what is acceptable to be shown to children of a certain age, the degree of animated violence in a showbeing one of those issues (compared to the Japanese, Americans seem to be less tolerant of animated violence for shows geared for older kids - no surprise here that when Japanese series hit American shores, they have to be edited to fit the American standard).

Which also explains why Yu-Gi-Oh season 0 was never dubbed in the US. It was too violent, but if they edited it to the American Standard, it would be extremely short. So they started a new series.

Actually, I think Yu-Gi-Oh! The Shadow Games (aka. Season Zero) was never released in the U.S. because, compared to the other seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh!, it was produced by a separate company and therefore 4kids had no access to the rights to dub it. But yeah, even then, Yu-Gi-Oh! The Shadow Games would have difficulty passing American standards.

true. Thats why is you read a translated manga and an american one, the tranlated has more cursing, profanity, and is more vulgar.

i feel if the project is or is told that it is violent it can ether have a clear sign saying a age restrict or last resort be removed

yes, i agree. if you have a warning, it shouldn't be removed. just like how we have ratings on games.

Then people are saying that people can ignore the ratings. BUT:
If you're worried about people ignoring ratings on games, movies etc, get off your computer and shut down your internet connection. There is no way to stop this that doesn't breach human rights.
And there are some possible ways to stop that will not work:
1. Idea:Get a parent/guardian to look at every project before the child views it.
Problem: In reality, most people have many important things to take care of. And where are you going to find proof that a parent/guardian approved it?
2. Idea: Get rid of anything slightly inappropriate to anyone above the age of 6.
Problem: Most people would leave the site.
3. Idea: Check every project as it is uploaded.
Problem: Too many projects being uploaded.

I can understand no human victims if it's being sliced in half with realistic 3D graphics, but this is just too strict.
So really, to the original person: If you want a place with no violence and no human victims, leave scratch, stop all internet connection and isolate your place from the rest of the world.

i agree, every place that has the possibility for creation will hold violence. what might be a good idea is a block that lets you prevent certain ages from viewing projects, you could make the community safer. In example, you put the age restriction block and you set it for 13 and older. when a child who is signed up as 5 on scratch tries to view this, the block will see their 5 and your project will say: "you are too young to view this." its a possibility.

This comes back to one original point. People can create another account and lie about their age.

That would be alright. Rico isn't gonna kill you. And the scratch team isn't saying:
"NO BLOOD OR WE BAN YOU!!!"

Just because you show them Scratch and they found a few bloody games means nothing, you can't change something this huge, plus blood is nothing more then red pixels, what if a kid cuts himself by accident and blood comes out? Way more realistic then red pixels, so, I mean think about it. And some kids see car crashes. That is bad but hey. It's fine, My brother is 11 and I'm 13, I make a few First Person Shooters, they have blood, but that's not that big of a deal. My brother makes ones with blood but doesn't upload it. Plus who cares about red pixels? Overprotective much? Seriously.

i don't think its bloody games we need to get worked up over. its games that are racist, sexually inappropiate, and offensive.

Finally someone here who has some common sense. I see tons of 3rd graders on Call of Duty. I mean c'mon. Anyways, there are barely any innapropriate games. What we need to look out for is Sexually explicit, or pornography on here, but we barely have any of that, I saw a project with one of those subjects in it, and reported it immediatly, after a few hours, boom, it was gone.

some people overdo the blood. for example: You just touch your opponent with a stick, their whole arm falls off and... I dont want to get into any details but i assume you know what i mean.
I have Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess which is rated T for teen. If you kill a plant, they die and you see a TINY amount of blood after they explode. Nothing big. But some scratchers overdo the blood and gore for ANYONES liking.
Scratch team listens to you if you flag a project or you tell them a problem you have, unlike most websites which barely pay any attention to ur note. For example: On Halloween, there were a ton of "Carve a pumpkin!" games, I happened to find one called "carve a person!". It had TONS of blood, and @ the time, the speakers at my house didnt work, but there was probably screaming. I flagged it, and in a few hours it was gone.
A little blood should be ok, but not like, well, "overblood" where again, my "whack him with a stick" example comes in.
And the fact that most people here are 8 and over doesnt mean that there arent any 3 year olds on scratch

That is true. I found this gallery, with projects with blood. http://scratch.mit.edu/galleries/view/68581 The blood isn't to realistic though. As long as there isn't too much and it doesn't look realistic, that's pretty much okay.
