well this is something i thought of over night! u see my be we could make scratch go online imagine playing an online scratch made project!! meaning maybe i could play a game with a friend but she/he is not in my house but still if scratch games could be made into online games it would really be cool imagine play a 4 way scrolling........with my friends!!if we could make this happen think of all the cool things we could do in scratch!

They made something like this called netscratch, but it didn't go through

I agree because after a while, people will have done everything possible with thte lastest version of scratch, but with online features added in, there could be endless possibilities of just playing with people online.
For example: a maze game with basic A.I. can become a maze game where the A.I. are others online. You could have big team-based games like Halo but in 2D!

You can already do that if you are good enough

... You know, it's REALLY good idea. But this would make a HUGE CONGESTION on the server, causing it to crash, and thus, unavailability of Scratch website (or even ENTIRE MIT MEDIA NETWORK).

That would be very complicated for the scratch team to make. And if your game limits to four players, what would happen if another player wants to join?

fg123 you see we have many players right then we can just keep it like this:
each time someone joins that person is send to a random server with less then 4 players......

do you play club penguin? does this happen there? NO! it does not is there any reason it should not work on scratch?

thing is nobody is with me think about it and what we can do!
The reason we are not "with" you, is because we are telling you that this has been attempted before, but the results were not successful.

I still don't get it: if it just sends a player to a random game and not the one the user wants to play...

Club Penguin is a really different server and network architecture. It has several servers around the world with software written especially for this purpose. Scratch has only one server, located on the east coast of USA - lemme ping it from UK:
Badanie scratch.mit.edu [18.85.13.67] z uľyciem 256 bajt˘w danych: / Pinging Scratch server [IP above] with 256 bytes of data: Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=119ms TTL=45 / Response from Scratch server, time = 119 Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=117ms TTL=45 / And so on like in the first one, czas is time Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=119ms TTL=45 Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=119ms TTL=45 Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=119ms TTL=45 Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=117ms TTL=45 Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=121ms TTL=45 Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=118ms TTL=45 Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=121ms TTL=45 Odpowied« z 18.85.13.67: bajt˘w=256 czas=119ms TTL=45 Statystyka badania ping dla 18.85.13.67: / Now some stats: Pakiety: Wysane = 10, Odebrane = 10, Utracone = 0 (0% straty), / Sent: 10, Received: 10, Lost: 0 (0% loss) Szacunkowy czas bĄdzenia pakiet˘w w millisekundach: / Estimated routing time in miliseconds: Minimum = 117 ms, Maksimum = 121 ms, Czas redni = 118 ms / Min = 117 ms, Max = 121 ms, Average = 118 ms
And now - Club Penguin:

this has already been done I think

that would be awsome! but they should set it up so you can create your own server to reduce lag. also you would have to download the online game otherwise the website would crash which also gives me another way to reduce the lag. have each member that joins get a website with a link in it to scratch so the lag of to many players would be reduced. but again. it would probably still lag like crazy...

I'm 14.
Anyway, as everybody else said... it would be cool but it would barely work. There's way too many roadblocks for an official release to happen, but people have connected local computers with scratch by themselves. I don't know how, but it's possible to do by yourself if you know enough about computers (I don't).

Connecting Scratch Projects is possible ( and has been done ) since... months ago ( around 6-12 months? ). ( http://scratchconnections.wik.is/ )
