I just thought something. This post can be both good and bad. Good for people who do not want to get banned to look at. Bad for people who want to use this as a cookbook for disaster! It was just a though. This post is good to read from anyway. 

a person gets banned every day. example: me. hmph.  we're not all bad, tho. sometimes scratch is just being a butt. like some person on scratch getts easily offended and they make fun of your artwork, then you get annoyed with them and yell, but then they tell u their best friend works at the headquarters... shoulda seen that coming./

If you get banned it is not scratch's fault, it is your fault. Not to make you feel bad, but the Scratch Team will never ban you unless you do something wrong. Try to think in the shoes of viewers who are looking at your comments/posts. Would they think it is appropriate?

or if u yell at one of their friends who amde fun of your artwork they would1 go to darkmonkey's homepage and ull c wat im talking aobout. everyone thinks scratch is sooo great and fair. well its not.

Even if someone has made fun of your artwork you should not continue the argument. Be the mature one. You will feel better inside knowing that you are more mature.

It can be hard to be patient when someone has said something disrespectful to you. But fighting back generally just makes the situation worse. So we ask that Scratchers just flag comments or projects that are disrespectful, and let us handle the situation.

I notice that there's no mention of the Terms of Use in this whole thread! So I thought I'd put in a plug. The TOU are what we use to judge if something is appropriate. So if you have any questions, check it out:

Re: Banning - we hate to do it, and when we do it's almost always temporary. Scratchers just need to contact us (from the page they see when blocked, or with the "contact us" link below) and in most cases, we'll unblock them.

p.s. Sometimes there's confusion on Scratch about the meaning of "flag." Flagging something just sends us a message with a link so we can check it out. It doesn't remove a project from the website by itself, unless multiple Scratchers have flagged something. We review every flagged project. So even if the community flags something so many times that it gets removed, we'll bring it back if it isn't inappropriate. Sorry for the long post.. just wanted to clear that up!

Those are just notifications automatically sent by the system when it thinks it detects inappropriate language. The filters are not perfect, so they often catch things that aren't inappropriate. But don't worry - we would never ban Scratchers just because the automatic filter censored a comment or two.  And we almost always give warning notifications before blocking Scratchers (except for things like spam).

Yeah that is what I mean. I think you only get banned if you use cuss words on every comment you post, but believe me I would NEVER do that! Thanks for clarifying!

If you are banned......how long does it last?

It's usually permanent. Unless you contact the scratch team, give them a good and true reason why you did what you did that got you banned. "I wanted to" is not a answer/reason.

Depends on what/how many times happened. For example, Norberts got banned for a few weeks several times for saying d***. Now he is permanetly banned. I think.

when i put ear [removed] it sent me a message saying it was inpropreate title!(( 23 <+>32  ))

Doshifan - Please, when you flag the project the Scratch Team will review it and remove it if neccesary. You don't have to ask others to do so.
