I uploaded a project, CocoaPlat, and I was amazed to find that it was REALLY, REALLY fast online--faster than in the actual Scratch program.
After a couple people complained about something, I touched it up, and re-uploaded it. Strangely, it's way, way slower. The thing is, I didn't add anything--I simply removed.
I asked others if they had the same problem -- and, unfortunately, the did.
Does anyone have any idea why this would be the case?

Hmmm... what was the stuff you removed? O.o One of the things that slow down the Java player are ghost/color effects. Did removing some of the objects make a ghost effect visible?

Did you convert it to Scratch 1.4 when you uploaded it? Maybe the original project was 1.3 and when you downloaded/uploaded it you converted it to 1.4 without realizing it.
Even if you did, I'm not sure if that would explain the speed difference...I don't have any evidence that 1.4 projects run slower than 1.3 - it's just a theory.

There was no ghost effect in the project. It was interlacing, like in LINE and all that. At first I had it Y scrolling interlacing, and then people complained it hurt their eyes, so I took it out making it stationary. Now way slower.

Nope, both were made in 1.4.

this is the same with me... but it's not a glitch / problem with scratch... it happens with almost every project which has a large file size due to uploaded music and lots of scripts... this is why you must download the projects.
Also, try using lesss 'forever' blocks.. and maybe repeat until or wait until and that kinda stuff, as that reduces the file size and makes things run smoother. also, when green flag clicked scripts increase file size, as do shown variables. try using less of these things and your project will run fasat and smoother! Hope I helped!" And be sure to check out my new game - comment and click love it! :p
