I closed it and decided not to complete the download. The thing is, I really want to play 'Scratch'...anyone can help me out?

Re: Can i trust this?

Just continue the download. The Scratch website is safe.

http://i52.tinypic.com/5es7t0.png I know what you're thinking! "Neptune! Get rid of those filthy advertisements and give us back the Zarathustra siggy, you horrible person!" Well, don't worry about it, the Zara siggy will be back soon, new and improved! ^^ Meanwhile, just do what the sig tells you to. >.>

Re: Can i trust this?

pretty much any download from a .edu site is perfectly safe... colleges steal way too many people's money (including mine) to have spyware.  I assume you're running Vista which asks you that every time you download something with an app.  perfectly safe... might i suggest getting a mac... macs own PCs in every way unless you wanna play some stupid MMORPG.

Re: Can i trust this?

minnvikings26, *NOT* all downloads from .edu sites are safe.  A lot of the downloads could be from college students who have illegal or buggy software.  College system administrators do not have that much control over individual web sites.

The scratch.mit.edu downloads are safe, but it is always a good idea to check!

Re: Can i trust this?

for the site to be linked off of a college's main site or be an extension of the college's site and contain a .edu address, it has to be approved by the school.  colleges take these things very seriously and any problems usually result in an investigation.  a friend of mine had his portfolio page wiped out because he had a link to a youtube video containing questionable behavior.

Re: Can i trust this?

minnvikings26: each college and university has different policies. What they did to your friend could have caused outrage  in some other colleges.

I agree .edu tend to be more reliable than .com websites, but nothing is 100% safe. Not even .gov... or maybe *especially* .gov! :-)

Re: Can i trust this?

It depends which one your downloading. If you download the new version, then (randomly) download the old version, it may mess up some of your games. Otherwise, just download the top scratch version and you'll be fine.
