Just an idea...
Note: This is not one of those books.
....................................
If all you do is one of these,
• Do whatever on your downloaded version of Scratch
• Use the forums
• Browse online games without leaving feedback
you're not interacting with the Scratch Community.
The Scratch Community is the group of users that work together to create projects, found companies, help each other, view each others' projects and help, etc..
To join them and leave your empty world, simply follow these tips:
1. View projects at random and leave meaningful feedback. If you see something you don't like, leave constructive criticism; don't just say that the project was stupid. Say what you liked and what could be better.
2. Find a user who seems nice and shares your interests. Discuss matters with each other, and show each other your projects. Eventually you'll have a friend! There's no better feeling on Scratch than to have a friend that you like, despite the fact that you have never met him/her in person.
3. If you use the forums like a robot, think carefully. If someone wants help, help them. If someone wants feedback, give it. You don't have to reply to fifty threads a day to do your part; two is great if you mean it.
4. Join a company or collaboration. You get to work with others (a good experience) and see the product of your work! You also get your name on the list of joyous workers who release projects to the world.
5. Check the Announcements forum to see what's up. There are lots of events.
....................................
Like all the other [verb] IT! threads, this one has links.

To participate in events:

-Become a Curator on the Scratch Homepage
For those who want to, but remember that you may not get picked.
-Looking for an image for the Eror 404 page
Open for the moment.
-Lists, lists, lists
The current themed gallery to submit projects in.

Good info! It will be really helpful to anyone not interacting. Maybe add join an RPG, those often introduce people and make them more social.

Good idea!
I love this guide; it's a great idea and is written nicely.

That's a good one... but it's not the type of thing I can leave a link to.

Partly, I cannot comment, reply, or favorite projects on this computer which I'm mostly using, so I'm kind of frustrated. So I look at projects, and use the forums.

That must be irritating!

It's okay.
And I take it as a great compliment that you enjoy eating popcorn while reading.

I don't see any major problems, though...

Wait, can't you just use the report button to alert the mods?
I don't know if it would be appropiate in this case though, so I didn't do it.

That's cheating... but nice idea though!
