I went there, downloaded it, and tried to play it but it didnt work. I tried it on a Mac and a Windows XP but it still doesnt work. Why is that?

Netscratch was discontinued. What you downloaded was a beta version that was not functional.

I may be able to make a simple netscratch in flash sometime. It will let you send broadcasts and variables between 2 remote computers.

it took me a while, but i have it up and running, this is pretty cool. it has some stuff missing, and lol... it says its scratch V1.0.1.
But there are some really cool new blocks, such as joke of the day, and if it was active; it would be able to tell you a random project of anyone on the scratch website!
its to bad it was discontinued.

i thought it was just python, because all the files on there have the scratch file, and a python file underneath them, unless its done with flyff

No, Ruby is a console scripting language which can be really good extension of Scratch...
