I know many people like it,
And I know many people want to keep the tag,
But what's the deal?
So many projects now have the tag "Peanut butter jelly time", even though they have nothing to do with it. I mean, if a project was about the dancing banana, or in it, you made a peanut butter jelly sandwich, I can see why the tag would be there, but just taking ramdom projects and sticking them with the tag is just stupid.
Some projects deserve the tag,
But most of them don't.
If someone can give me a legitamite reason why this is going on,
Please tell me.
Please

It's a basic problem with folksonomy, really. ("Folksonomy" is a new word for this new idea of "tagging" things.) What's surprising about tag systems is that they usually work alright! I mean there's no sort of quality control, usually no guidelines at all about how to tag things, just a bunch of monkeys typing in words that occur to them. Usually it works, and if you search flickr for things tagged "bananas" you'll get mostly a bunch of bananas!
So it's a completely vulnerable, completely loose and undirected sort of system, but it still seems to work pretty well sometimes, so we've all been doing it all the time the past few years. Does that answer your question?

There should be some way for the admin to delete the tag

Yeah, s/he posted that on most of my projects.
Oh, and please don't use your other logins to post.
Bad banana/god!
Oh, and didn't you start it?
After that, it got out of hand, right?

Well, I put it on ONE (just one...) and didn't tell anyone or make a big deal and then BAM!! all of a sudden the tag is everywhere... (I always do something first, and then without warning, everyone else is like "oh, yeah that's awesome" and it becomes a trend that I was doing first, but I had no influence on other people)
