Scratch Team, where are you?

Scratch Team, where are you? You barely ever post (save Paddle, good for him - ever wondered why everyone likes him?); you're practically invisible! Where are you?

Please, make yourself known. Let's take the Suggestions forum for example. Plenty of people want to see what you think about their suggestions, especially the important  ones - but you never say anything! Why not?

Sometimes we see that you are on the forums; why not post? People want to see you.

People would like it if you were more active and posted more often so people could see you. Interact with the Scratch Community!

I'm sorry if I'm really annoying to you. But I honestly feel that you guys can do better.  smile

(If you think it's just me, read the bottom of this post)

Someone speaks out! Read this:

Chrischb wrote:

I am irritated. I spent about a month on my logo and submission project, which wasn't rushed. I posted in the thread on logo submitting, put a few pictures in to help out, and then left.

I waited.

No reply.

I posted again, asking if they still check the thread.

No reply.
....................................
I scrolled up on the last page, and saw no Scratch Team members post.
Furious, and marveling at how lazy they were, I tried the next page.

And guess what I saw? Nothing.

They were nowhere on the next page.

I had a look at the next, and... nowhere.

At that point I gave up.
....................................
Well, this is irritating. I saw lots of great logos out there, and no replies. People spend time working on their logos and projects.
And they just get ignored.

Scratch Team, if you find this thread, please post so we can know that you actually check the website.
....................................
Sorry if this is a bit harsh, but there are lots of great logos out there that deserve something.

You can fix this! Make yourself visible to the people!

If you think it's just me, here's posts (or snippets of posts) from this topic. Why put them here? You wouldn't bother to read the posts if I told you to...

Re: Scratch Team, where are you?

We do read the forums and your suggestions. Thanks a lot for all your ideas. A lot of times I read things and I just feel like they are great ideas but either we have been asked about it before (i.e. chatrooms), or they're not part of the current plan for Scratch (i.e. Scratch on iPhone), or they are things that we're currently exploring  (like Scratch for Arduino, or Processing-like Scratch). Scratch took about 3 to 4 years before it became public, so I would expect the next radically different generation of Scratch to take about the same time. Also, a lot of the projects around Scratch are done by students who, like me, are interested in exploring something new but that it is not necessarily something robust enough for everyone to use (sometimes it only works on certain OS or it breaks often).

About the logo competition, unfortunately a lot of the logos do not follow the rules of sizing and format. The project itself is less important, what is important is that the size of the PNG is exactly the same as the PNG we posted.

Anyway, we're in final exams now, so we better get back to studying!  smile

I followed the right size... but the project isn't as important? But I'm glad I made it anyway.

Thanks for your reply!

Thanks for the helpful post!  smile

A lot of people think you don't view the Suggestions forum... but there's this:

Paddle2See wrote:

The Scratch team does read Suggestions...and are very interested in this discussion.  So if you have an opinion, please let it be known.  Try to keep to the established threads though so the argument doesn't get too spread out.  Thanks  smile

This was about someone who said that the Scratch Team doesn't view the Suggestions (but I won't name the person here - no, it wasn't me!  tongue ), but the point is that they do view the Suggestions forum.

What I'm more focused on is not viewing and reading, but actually showing yourself.  smile

andresmh wrote:

It's amazing how people don't read the rules or use their common sense... I once saw a logo that was very big, and wasn't based on the Scratch logo at all!
Luckily, some people do follow the rules.  smile  Anyway, back to it.

I think what Chrischb wants is recognition for the logos. The Scratch Team never seem to say anything in there, and don't show anything either. Maybe if you showed yourself in there, people would feel more motivated to submit a logo - if you know that something's active, you'll feel better of submitting to it.  hmm

I don't see that as a problem either... I was just pointing something out. The moderators are active, so people know about them and like them! It'd be great if the Scratch Team could do this too.  smile

Re: Scratch Team, where are you?

Actually, to be honest, it isn't about "Is the Scratch Team even viewing what people have to say?"; It's actually "Where are you? Can you show yourselves?".  smile

I'm not saying that the two posts were nothing. They were helpful.  big_smile

Sorry if we haven't been as responsive as you would like.  People have many responsibilities and this is a busy time.   I'll put it in my New Year's resolutions to try and spend more time on forums areas beyond Troubleshooting.
