I've been thinking about computers lately, and I was wondering if my old Scratch files would transfer if I switched between Windows and Mac computers. Basically, I'm asking if the Windows version of Scratch saves a project in the same file format as the Mac version. I was hoping that I could open files created on the Windows computer that I am currently using with the Mac Scratch. Do they collaborate?

Because it is advanced, it goes in 'All About Scratch'. Yes, because they are still the same file (darr ) they can transfer easily. I moved all my files in a snap with no problems.

Thanks, glad you deciphered my lengthy description and knew the answer. (Believe me, there are people at my school who probably couldn't figure out what I was asking.)

I'm fairly sure that all image types work, .js works I assume, probably .zip too, but I'm less sure about that one... I've never owned a Mac or seen a ZIP on one, causing my uncertainty.

Images work fine if they are in an SB project because they are converted to a special type of bitmap internally.

ZIPs work. Actually, .js might not, because Apple makes their own version of Java.

.AVI (audio-video) files work with both.
