Moderator Summary:
There is a 10MB limit on the size of uploaded projects. If your project is over the limit, you can attempt to reduce the file size by clicking the "compress sounds and images" in the file sharing menu.
Is there a file size limit for a project?
Also, is there a limit on how many projects I am allowed to upload?

Hi!
Projects uploaded and shared on the website are limited to 10 MB.
There is no limit on the number of projects you can upload.
If you are using a lot of sounds or background pictures, you may want to use compression to shrink your project. See:
http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewtopic.php?id=2482
Projects that you keep on your own hard drive can be as large as you like.
Scratch on!

Just remember that having a large project on-line will be very slow for people with slower connections. Beware of importing those mp3 files and large images because they take up a lot of space.
The file size limit now is 10MB.

Use your operating system file explorer to go to the folder where you stored your file and check the size there. By default Scratch probably is storing your project under c:\Program FIles\Scratch if you are using Windows.

How do I take a screenshot on a Mac?

I use the "Grab" utility program to take screenshots on my Mac. It came with OS X (10.3 anyway). I've found it fairly easy to use to get any region of the screen I want. There are also some keyboard shortcuts you can use (but I never do):
command-shift-3 takes a picture of the whole screen
command-shift-4 takes a picture of a part of the screen (selectable by dragging)
command-shift-4 followed by space allows selecting an object on the screen (like a window or the dock)
The shortcuts produce PDF files which are not easy to edit, so I prefer to use Grab.

Try clicking extras > compress sounds and extras > compress images.

i was trying to upload my rpg project, by the time it was finished uploading it said the file size was too big, there is no sounds on it, i compressed all the images, i deleted all non-important scripts, and i the file size grew by 100kb, the size is currently 10800 kb, all the scripts do something, so is there a way to increase the file size limit?

no there is no way to increase the file size, try cutting out some unimpostant parts in your game, that will make the size go donw.

I wonder why this thread is being bumped. It's 2 years old.

For the reason that new Scratch members may not know the answer to this question. When you post you must think in the shoes of Advance and Novice Scratch Members.

My projects are as low as 0MB! - I like have 17 pages of Projects if you look on one of my projects - the only ones that are 10MB are Textbox CHAT, and Textbox CHAT2. All my projects are compressd. so they are faster.

10MB is the limit, but checking off the box in the lower left after you click share should compress the project and make it smaller, but sometimes then the online quality lowers... oh well, that's inevitable.
