Is there a such thing as parallel universes?

Personally, I think yes.
BUT I want to know what others think about this.

Re: Is there a such thing as parallel universes?

I think yes, because for every decision you make in life will have different results, so another universe is created and it co-exists within our own, it's just invisible to everyone except those inside it.

Re: Is there a such thing as parallel universes?

Brace yourself for a long speech...

Parallel universes are a neat theory. If there is such a thing, then it could justify the existence of black holes, in that a black hole is a portal to the parallel universe. This is probably not true, as you'd be dead long before you get through the black hole due to its massive gravity.

Let's just assume this is true. Then white holes would have to exist, for expelling matter that came in the black whole in the other universe. If everything done in this universe was done in the parallel one, and you entered a black hole, so would your copy. Then your copy would come into this universe and you would go into that one.

There's also a multiverse theory; many universes (membranes) are floating around in a larger universe, and occasionally collide, causing more membranes to form.

I'm very knowledgeable on this kind of stuff...

It seems so, BUT it IS possible (if there is such things a parallel universes) to exist within the same universe as your copy is, only nature will be doing everything it can to destroy one of the 2 copies through anything and everything, OR that universe could be torn apart and sucked into itself, causing a nuclear explosion that would destroy everything.

Well, let's think about that. Let's say one day you are answering a 1-question yes-or-no poll. There are 2 possibilities: You say yes, or you say no. The moment you are asked that, a parallel universe is created to show what could happen if you answered the other way. Without parallel universes, the balance of nature would be destroyed, causing chaos everywhere.

When you think about it that way...I have to agree. I just before thought it was idiotic fantasy.

Re: Is there a such thing as parallel universes?

i think there can b, but only special beings such as dragons and other mythical creatures that most believe to be nonexistant can enter such a place. by allowing yourself to truely believe in these creatures and these worlds, the creatures will know you as a friend and allow you to enter these parallel worlds on your dying day. i believe that in this action, these creatures will give you new life, new youth and create in you a sense true peace.

Re: Is there a such thing as parallel universes?

Yes. It is the core of both quantum physics and physics.

However, you can't create a new one at will(you can, but let's keep it simple) when you make a choice. There is an infinite amount of parallel universes, connected together in the multiverse. They always have some differences. Therefore you can 'time travel' by hopping into a universe that is the same, but 5 seconds in the past, etc. There's a lot more about that, but I don't want to get into it that much.  smile

I have a small theory, though. You know how dogs bark at things that aren't there? While, he is probably barking at something in a co-existing universe that is invisible to us. Because dogs have REALLY good senses, they could be able to sense a co-existing universe that is invisible to all but those living in it, and the same to all universes.

This quote sounds like a bad tabloid. Catastrophic atomic nuclear explosion? Somebody needs their thesaurus revoked. And for dogs barking at things that you can't sense? Dogs can smell/hear things that we can't (in the same universe), or they do it out of boredom. Also, being able to see "all" universes would overload your brain and you'd probably go insane (also, if you got stabbed in a parallel universe while you slept but were awake in this universe, good luck ever being non-paranoid again)

However, from a PHYSICS viewpoint, the theory makes sense. It just seems to me like you don't actually know the math behind it and are making up random "facts" to support your viewpoint.

While, I just said it was a THEORY!!! I never said it was true. And it wasn't random.   hmm

Well, generally theories are backed up by observations and facts. There's a difference between a theory and a guess.

then you would either have to accept that fact that
1: everything if preterdermined
OR
your copy was exactly like you and made the exact same decisions as you, essentially making you predictable, you would also have to believe that everyone else in the world had the same thing as their reactions to your behavior would have to be the same, if even one decision was made differently then the whole balance of the universe would be all messed up or something.

You can't, as I hypothesized in my almighty Reverse/Alternate Paradox Theory. You might want to see my posts in the "Is there time travel" topic. It just creates an "alternate" paradox.

Re: Is there a such thing as parallel universes?

My short answer: nope. I've looked at alot of throries and things, but none of them convince me that a parallel universe is possible.
