I'm pretty sure this was suggested in the past, but I lost the thread and I think it was rejected because you could link to any site and make inapropriate projects.
But, what if you could link to only pages of the Scratch site? There could be a link block that always starts with "www.scratch.mit.edu". Then, you could just add "/forums" or "/users/06dknibbs" and the project would create a link to that page.
If It's ever possible, this could be a nice feature for Scratch in the future

Yeah this would be pretty cool! Just like on youtube... Although it could be used for spamming. They just need to find out the right way.

But if you make it your own project, It can't really be used for spamming .
If you just uploaded a blank projectl inking to another of your projects, the Scratch community would probably ignore it like spammers that link in comments.
It could be used to link you too a related forum thread, project, gallery and more.
But, It should probably open in a new window

Oh yeah, definately. Well maybe there could be a setting for that.

I'm not really sure about that idea.
People can make projects that will automatically link you to a site with a virus.
Wouldn't that make the site unsafe? Maybe if you can only link to a page on scratch.mit.edu, but there might be a bug that will keep on opening pages until the computer freezes, or spam you.

That's what I suggested It should only link to pages on Scratch to keep it safe.
If it's used for spam, then it could be flagged or it would have the opposite effect of everyone avoiding the project it Spam-links too.
It could be useful though, imagine you made a game, and then you made a second version. You could add a sprite saying "Play the first game here" that links you too that project

This is a really interesting idea!
But how would the blocks work? Would it be something along the lines of this:
[print link [linktext] at X( ) Y ( )]
The problem is that it wouldn't work offline... or maybe it could open your internet browser.

Perhaps, I don't even know if It's possible, but I'm sure they'll be a way.
If it can't work offline, it should be able to online. But I was thinking something along the lines of "Open: www.scratch.mit.edu" so you could add, "When sprite clicked, open: www.scratch.mit.edu".
