The Solution to 'Disappearing Text'

I have finally found the solution to the 'Disappearing Text' problem.

If you don't know what it is, I'll explain it to you. You're just working on a project, la la la la la, and IT STRIKES! All the text is removed within seconds, and the larger the project, the more you'll feel mad.

What do you do when it strikes to save your project? If you saved just before it happened, it's fine, you might need to redo a small thing. If you forgot to save a while ago, then follow these steps carefully.

#1 Close all other programs other than Scratch do try to minimize the chance of it happening again.

#2 Press 'save' It might be hard to do it from the menu, so just press the second icon in the group of icons.

#3 Exit Scratch.

#4 Open Scratch again. This is to make sure Scratch is not affected in any way.

#5 Open your project. It is probably still without text.

#6 There are two ways to recover your code:

A: Press the save button repeatedly(mostly 2) times and it'll come back.

B: Go through every sprite and costume in the project, press edit, press text, and press anywhere, and it should come back.

You'd obviously want to do A, unless you can't.

#7 Save your work! You don't want it to strike again.  smile

Now, for the good part...

THE SOLUTION

I have found it. Eureka!

I was looking at Chrischb's post at to solve the problem when I found out...

...The connection.

I explained in a post that it could be the RAM... And I was right!

Everything that happened was that Scratch was using too much RAM. When it went over 99% or something, Scratch 'hiccups' because of Squeak and lowers it down.

How do you fix this problem? Well, make Scratch use less RAM! The previous versions didn't have it because they didn't use enough RAM.

So there you go. That's what I can come up with and has been proved.  wink

I hope you fix it,

Greatdane
