Re: ITopic: New Members...introduce yourself here!

Hello everybody.

I've just got to programming after a very long break, and all I did before was BASIC.  So I downloaded scratch in attempt to update my skills.  And so here I am.

I've written some basic BASIC games previously, like battleships, and some other really simple programs.  So sitting down with Scratch, well I gave it a go, and I'm stuck.

So really this is a 'hello' and a 'please can anyone help me?' post all in one ^_^.

My name is Sarah and I am 19 years old.  I am currently going to Front Range Community College in Westminster, Colorado.  I have two cats named Samson and Callie.  I want to get an Associate's Degree in 3D-Animation or something similar to that.

How do you create games w/ Scratch?

Hello!
As I've said to other new members:
First I suggest you to read the getting started page which is located here

Follow the steps and then read the reference guide here

I hope that helps!

Re: ITopic: New Members...introduce yourself here!

Thankyou yes, but I'm a little beyond that and as you know it's a question of how your logic works when applied to the logic that needs to be used in an environment like scratch.  And I'm stuck because I don't know how I've gone wrong, so it's a bit beyond guides, in that I need someone to point at the program and say why it wont work.

Yes, I've tried pulling apart programs based on similar concepts (space invaders kindof) but a lot of them seem overly long and too complex for their own good, and I'm only constructing it slowly as I'm going along, making each step work before moving on to the next one.  I'm being far too organised compared to normal  smile

I just uploaded it to my profile thingy.  So thankyou in advance for your help.

Hello MidnightWarrior,
I haven't read those books, but they seem good.
Good luck with your animation!

Welcome to Scratch Ilovenature.

For help on starting your first project and other various things, you can check out the support page.

If you ever need help on anything specific, feel free to ask around the forums. There's plenty of helpful members who have created guides which may help in the "new scratch members"  smile

I also suggest downloading some project and having a look at some of their scripts to see how they work  smile .
