I'm a bit confused. Does it mean posting once and waiting fifteen days, or posting on fifteen different days? Or something else?

I joined scratch earlier than September 22, 2007. The date on the forums says the first time you viewed the forums. That means "The first time you view the forums on a new account, the 15 days will start."

The date below the username and ranking is when you registered. But I suppose you're right...
The problem with that is that someone can post once, create a new account, and repeat. And after those 15 days, there'll be __ accounts ready for spamming/advertising!

AND they could make them numbered like school accounts, and it would seem perfectly normal!

And then a moderator can ban the spammer and their IP address, go into the spammer's multiple account profiles, edit out the signatures, and poof! All commercial links gone from siggies.

I completely conquer with this! There is no reason for 15 days of joining within the scratch community being a long amount of time, if your original intentions are good! Great idea!
DawnLight, do you mean the ' word "concur", not "conquer"?

Nice idea
Although, I realise this is to cut down on spam/advertsing.
Waiting 15 days isn't such a hard task...
I think I suggested a "signature ban" or something of the sort somewhere. Maybe if you are misusuing your signature, it gets banned for 2 months? This would quickly get annoying to those who only want to misuse signatures.

I think that that is a very good idea. With the post stuff, people with less that 50 posts that had made a signature were sitting around scratching their heads! (Get it?-- scratching their heads!) Ok, back to the topic. Nice idea!

It's my browser. When I typed that it "auto-corrected", and made it worse. Sorry about that. Also, this is my new account. I still use Dawnlight though!

Great idea! Then spammers will leave Scratcher's alone! I hope that idea comes into effect soon.

I doubt it will, but waiting 15 days isn't really hard to do.
A user could easily create an account or 2, stick it on the forums, and then abandon Scratch for 15 days while they sit around drinking coffee and watching TV. Then all they have to do is sign on and spam/advertise with however many accounts they created.
At least with 50 posts they actually had to do something...

In order to prevent unnecessary posts...Like what? and How will enabeling signatures stop this?
People used to post comments on the forums just to increase their post count so they can get a signature. Now people would have to wait 15 days.
The main goal with preventing signatures is to avoid professional spammers putting links to their websites on signatures.
I've been a member for years and have been in the forums lots but i have NO IDEA how to get a signiture.

You know, I'm wondering...
Maybe you can have an option to select when you make a new account 'make a test account' so you can have a signature instantly, because you are using a test account.

You would then have to say what account the test account is for, and the main account would get a message like this:
(test username) has claimed to be you in a test account. Is this true? Yes No
You would click either Yes or No.

I made mine (and it worked!) before 15 days!

Hey gbrox, the 15 day rule takes into effect on the first day you visited the forums while you are logged in. According to your user stats, you first visited the forum on December 27th of 2009, which means that you have, at most, only 13 days of activity. You will still have to wait a while before you are allowed to receive a signature.
