Re: The IMPOSSIBLE question!

This is impossible. Blind people since birth have no thoughts about colors. So you can't compare green with other colors, and you can't say things like "Green is what you feel when ______". It's impossible.

That's the best idea possible... but they don't know the actual look. But brilliant idea!  smile

Yeah... they know the temperature instead. But I love the idea anyway!

It sprouts life, if bright, and is the color you see in your dreams.

Yeah, then a blind guy sees green and he's like "Oh cool I just saw red"
That's called being confused

True-they have no thoughts about it...yet. But if we explain it right, it is most definetly possible.  wink

I believe people have invented a device to allow them to see, but it only allows them to see in green.  smile  Give them that and say: The only colour you see is green.

I thought about Thesaint's idea for a long time. At first I thought it might work. Then I thought, how could that be done? "Program Green"? I don't think that would be possible. I'm not going to give up trying to find the answer, however. This problem, with a little brainpower, can be solved!

No, because they will have no idea. It may seem odd to you, but imagine if you were told to learn about the - let's say eigth dimension. How would we understand it? We don't know much about the fourth at all, let alone sixth and seventh. How would we understand?

Something else to point out is that people can't imagine colors. Try it! You just can't. To a blind person, they would have no idea what colors there were, of a full range; but they may see colors and not recognize them.
Think about when you close your eyes. You see colors moving about, or just a solid block. That's color! But who knows what a blind person sees? They would most likely see something different than the interior of their eyelids. To find out, ask a recently blinded person what its like... but I don't know what they see.  hmm

Overall, this is an interesting discussion!

Yeah, and you skipped the 5th dimension because we understand it perfectly.

That is a interesting perspective. However, I'm sticking to what I'm saying, if we explain right, they will

Re: The IMPOSSIBLE question!

Green is... not not green.

I dunno. I'd tell them that since they will never see green, whatever I tell them they have no way of knowing whether or not what I said had any relevance to anything.

Pinochio, you should add this, it's probably the most logical way (and possible way).

Re: The IMPOSSIBLE question!

I don't know why everyone thinks this is impossible. It isn't. Seriously. If we keep thinking it is impossible, it will become impossible. Don't you want to figure out this problem? I really still think that green should not be described as a color, but a feeling.

Re: The IMPOSSIBLE question!

hmmm...first i would explain: colors are what fill the things of the world. they give them identity.the blank nothingness you see is black. now imagine things brighter. things more lively. those are colors.

Then i would tell them:
green is grass.
green is trees.
green is cucumbers and pickles and some apples.
green can be bright, it can be dark.
green can change, green can flow.
green is the world.
green is us

woah i just reread that, now i feel so philisophical :p
