If you've been to the 'Inspiration and More' section, you'll see some debate about it. Some are vying for it to be removed, others want the discussions to change. I do not believe in either, but I do believe 'Inspiration and More' could be better improved.
Here is what I'm suggesting:
I think Inspiration and More could be split into multiple sections to better accomodate for the topics and discussions that go on in there. I was thinking of a layout like this:
Requests - For things like sprite requests, etc.
Opinion and Debate - For discussions about different ideas. Surveys included here, too.
Non-Scratch Game talk - For those who play games outside of Scratch (Pokémon, Roblox, Dragon Cave, etc.)
Non-Scratch Community talk - For things not about Scratch (like the "Recipe Book" thread, or the "Weird Dreams" thread)
Collaboration Projects - For collaborations on Scratch projects. EDIT: I'm thinking that threads asking for beta-testing projects may also fit it in here as well.
Project Ideas Help - For help with ideas for a project
Miscellaneous - For those threads that do not fall into the category of the others above (and, as time goes on, more categories can be added if a new significant theme comes out from the Miscellaneous section).
What do you guys think?

Kewl. One question, though. How do you propose you would organize the topics already in the forum?

Do you mean like putting the already existing topics into the new sections if they are created?

This should be the way it is. Then, there actually is a way to see "Inspiration" and also "More".
Notice there's no "Inspiration" section, though. I think what Cheddargirl means is that all the inspiration would be in all the sections. You can get inspired by anything.

I guess the mods should move every thread in, say, the last 2 pages to their respective categories.
I have another idea. If there's a separate forum for Text-Based Games, why not a separate "Off-Topic" forum for TBG and the categories you mentioned? I think 7 sub-categories in a single forum is too much. Something like this will be good:
("Project Ideas" and "Collaborative Projects" should be All About Scratch sub-categories, since they're sorta related to Scratch.) Art +-Art Showcase +-Art Requests +-Art Contests Gaming (different categories for different platforms such as PSX, NDS, etc.) Chat +-Off-Topic +-Debates +-Surveys/Polls

Pretty much yeah.
Changes like this always have that question pop up eventually... xD

I support this suggestion!

I support this 100%! I think the way you worded it was perfect... I hope the Scratch team does some of the things you suggested.

I don't think you get it, there would be 7 forums. Thats what I heard...

I just SO agree! I'm not fussed about the forum count, as long as we have it divided into actual inspiration, sensible more, and junk.
But what I was thinking about what the new forum would be called.
Would it be called...
"Other?" Bland and short.
"Inspiration and More?" More to the point, but doesn't really explain all the forums.
"Everything Else?" No, not to be taken literally, and not very serious.
Who knows?

Great idea! I can't say anything more; it's brilliant.

Unfortunately, that's where the tricky part comes in. It might have to be that 'Inspiration and More' moves on to be archived, and then, when the new sections are created, people will be forced to restart threads (similar to what has happened with Text-Based games). Another option could be to create the sections, and then have the most recent threads (probably the first two pages) moved to the new section, with the rest of the threads archived. Or perhaps someone could think of something better.

I like the second idea better
But then the person who moves the threads have to look if the thread is an debate or a source of inspiration etc.
As I stated in my post above it would be easier if it wasn't divided into so many categories...

Actually, when I was designing this layout, I had the notion in mind that all topics are inspirational (hence why there is no section called 'Inspiration'. Everything falls under the category 'Inspiration'). ^^
I was thinking something like this:
Inspiration and More (this is the main topic header of the forum*)
- Requests
- Opinions & Debate
- Non-Scratch Game Talk
- Non-Scratch Community Talk
- Collaboration projects
- Project Ideas Help
- Miscellaneous
* When I say "main topic header", think of it this way: look at the forum sections 'Announcements' and 'All About Scratch'. They are filed under the main topic header 'Scratch'.

I was thinking that only threads which's purpose is inspiration is posted in the inspiration section.
Examples of inspiration posts:
"Could someone please help me, i don't know what to make on Scratch I need inspiration "
"I saw this game called Sonic, and I thought I would make something similar, do you have any suggestions on how I could make it?"
The purpose of those two posts are inspiration while the purpose of topics like "Look at this funny video OMG!!! It's so funny" isn't really inspiration.
Of course these are just examples I came up with, someone who actually posts a thread like one of these might have another purpose.
