Scratch With Windows 7

Well, with Windows 7 new out, I am not convinced that there will be absouloutley NO BUGS when using it. Please use this to post any problems you have using it, so the Scratch Team (when they have time) can fix them!  tongue  The only probles so far are...

* When you download Scratch, you should put it into a folder and then run it. Otherwise it doesn't seem to work.

I'm interested if other people are having trouble installing Scratch on Windows 7 - please post difficulties and work-arounds here.

Thanks RacerZmanx1 - this is a good topic idea  smile

Re: Scratch With Windows 7

There was already a topic about this, but anyway...

I'm running the RC beta, and it works GREAT!!! I can't believe I was used to such slow conditions in vista.

AWESOME!!

Re: Scratch With Windows 7

Acually, the 1st one on the list you can also do with Windows Vista so it's a glitch that happens in versions later than XP.

Retired from Scratch, but just the language itself. Not the forums.

Hi, I am not sure if that the problem is with the structure of Windows 7 Registry, but my projects icon are all the icon in shell32.dll,1 instead of Scratch Cat, I checked the registry using regedit and in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Scratch Project\DefaultIcon the value is C:\Program Files\Scratch\Icons\project.ico,0 which that directory obviously doesn't exist is not a directory that exist. But it might be the ScratchInstall1.14.exe.
Thanks

Re: Scratch With Windows 7

Windows 7 is basically a better and faster redo of Vista. But it still is different...it does use the MinWin kernel. I'm not sure how Scratch can and can't work on Windows 7.

I just got a new laptop with Windows 7 for Christmas, and just downloaded Scratch to it. I'm happy to say Scratch runs really well on Windows 7.

What's the use of bumping this topic when you don't have a problem?  hmm

Re: Scratch With Windows 7

Well, if you do Club Penguin, you get an extremely tiny screen. You'll need to click Small Screen (weird, hmm?) to get a normal-sized screen, but it's extremely tricky to get on it.

I'm afraid I don't have Windows 7, so I wouldn't know the answer; but you can get responses in Spanish by using the Spanish forums: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewforum.php?id=15

Me temo que no tiene Windows 7, así que no sabría la respuesta, pero usted puede obtener respuestas en español mediante el uso de los foros en español: http://scratch.mit.edu/forums/viewforum.php?id=15

Re: Scratch With Windows 7

When using windows 7 after exiting presentation mode the software restores down and is no longer in maximize. Also, when using Windows XP after exiting presentation it minimises the whole thing

Uh, no. It works completely fine on Vista, which is much better than Win7.

Re: Scratch With Windows 7

The sound is kinda jittery at random moments and I downloaded the portable version and it worked fine. I tried making a project in the scratch that didn't work and saved it with the jittery sound and when I open it in the portable version - no jitter. :d It's working fine at the moment - some how it fixed itself but it's a bug worth fixing.

Re: Scratch With Windows 7

I used to use XP and had no problem with it.

Then, I got a laptop with 7, and scratch seems to run fine except that it requires me to try posting the project about 20-50 times before it finally uploads, so this may be a problem for Scratch in 7.

Re: Scratch With Windows 7

I use Windows 7 and haven't ever had scratch freeze, or crash.
I never had trouble installing, in fact I've never had any trouble besides the slowness running complex/long scripts.

I'm lovin' it.  big_smile
