Help?

<when green flag clicked>
<forever>
Day 1. I upload a project. Let's say it's a minimation that I made in about an hour. My friends and a couple of fans view it.

Day 2. I watch my messages rise, and I'm actually getting some pretty good comments.

Day 3. It somehow ended up on Top Viewed. But I shrug and guess I should be happy.

Day 4. I get several comments from game-only die hard programmers saying why something this stupid can get on front page, usually worse. They view it, thus pushing it to top Top Viewed. More insults come.

Day 5. I reply to the comments. Flame war ensues. I start wishing that this hadn't got on Top Viewed at all.

Day 6. I decide to leave the computer until it gets off top viewed.

Day 8. Off Top Viewed. I release another project.
<end>

Re: Help?

Well, many people don't like small animations and cat projects and stuff like that and when it gets front page they hate it. I sometimes hate it as well, but the more they view it and post nasty comments the higher views you are getting.

Re: Help?

Just ignore the insults. It isn't your fault that the insulters don't understand that Scratch isn't only for games. I hope you feel better.

Re: Help?

Ignore the insults as Dazachi said. The people who dislike those projects are either:

1. Jealous.
2. Very limited to games.
3. Haven't watched any of your animations anyway.
4. Simply dislike your style.
5. Are people who are just plain stupid!

Overall, those people who insult the Social Scratchers (was that the name of the group) are either:

1. Secretly jealous.
2. Want their projects to be front-paged instead.
3. Dislike your drawing style and appreciate pixel art.

So, just remember that they're a bunch of dribbling zombies who spend their life irritating people.

Re: Help?

Who cares? People like you, that's why you're famous! And most people don't get on the front page and want to... be proud!  smile

Re: Help?

Well, people who are famous don't want their projects on the front page, like nikkiperson2 or I think The-Whiz. But that's because they experienced the fame feeling and the 100 comments. They get tired replying and they don't want it to be on the front page anymore. But people like me, we doesn't have much views or that experience want their projects on the front page to see what happens. It might turn out well, or not. So basically, I second what Jonathanpb said.

Re: Help?

Remember... Scratch isn't about fame. Being famous is not your goal. Honestly, being famous is really tiring and you don't really like it...

You can read my sticky in Show and Tell about getting more views on your projects and galleries (ooh, I'm advertising my own thing! But it fits... so yeah). Here's the link (yes, I know you can just go to Show and Tell): How to get a popular project/gallery (more than just Show and Tell)

Re: Help?

I think you get Top Viewed constantly because you have enough friends that whenever you make a new project, they see it in the My Friends' Latest Projects and rush to it. And the suscribers...

How many people can do that?  smile

Re: Help?

People shouldn't say useless (as in doesn't help in the future) mean comments to other people for the other people spending time to make these projects for the rest of us.

And to people who post, how did this get on front page, it's because other people looked at the project

And anyway, if it was just games on the front page, we'd have The-whiz and other famous, just game programmers, taking up the front page, and we'd get bored of seeing their projects as well

I don't have that experience so I want to try it. I like meaningful and usefull comments. Not:

"OMG! How did this piece of * get featured."
"This is stupid. Delete this."

I like:

"This is great! I like how..."
"There is a glitch, ..., otherwise, it is very good."

Etc.

Same here. And I agree with Jonathanpb: Don't strive for the the limit! A moderate popularity is best in my opinion, which provides you with time to do other things rather than go online every twenty minutes.
But anyway, I'm happy with my amount at the moment.  smile

Re: Help?

*shrug* I've always wished I would get top something. It makes me feel... invisable. I mean I've seen alot of my friends have one project on the front page somehow and all the sudden they're getting 300+ veiws everywhere. And I just sigh and wish that it was me. I just broke the 40+ veiws for my projects. I look at people like you and think "how did they do it?" Cause there's no point on making a project if no one looks at it. That's pretty much the only thing keeping me going is that when I share the project, people will comment saying they love it. If that idn't happen I wouldn't be on scratch anymore.

The same goes for me Radiance, but I have the strength to keep it going. Make something unique, and maybe the Scratch Team will notice it, and get it featured, or you could advertise your projects in you signature so people will know that they should watch it.

Your latest project's on the front page. And it's on the top of Top Viewed as well. Weird. (Whatever emoticon fits here)

Actually, being famous is very tiring.

In Show and Tell, I wrote a topic for how to get more views on your projects and galleries. I seriously recommend getting on the Scratch Design Studio's galleries and then getting on the front page; it's really easy, but you need good projects (and not all of those projects get on). But read it all. How to get a popular project/gallery (more than just Show and Tell)

Hmm. It makes me wonder how someone could hate your animations, but ok! I suggest you ignore them and if they continue to post hate comments, block 'em.

Or even better, delete them and pretend it never happened!  big_smile

No, that's not honest, sadly.  sad

But delete them if they're really nasty!  big_smile

But be sensible about it.  wink

Re: Help?

I think this is starting because you are starting to ignore people's comments. Replying to them (not angriliy) will solve your problems.

Also - report nasty comments. That always helps.

People are just so [removed] jelous that it't not their project on the list.

1. Ignore it
2. If it's completly offensive to you flag it.
